X-Race Challenge Details Page

PHYSICAL

#100: Take a video of your entire team running up any set of bleachers for a full 9 seconds. Bleachers can be metal, wood, or any other material as long as they're actual spectator bleachers. You can run up the steps adjacent to the bleachers so that you're not trying to run up the actual seats. If the bleachers are not very tall, run up and down them continuously for 9 seconds.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- team is running up (or down) any set of spectator bleachers continuously for a full 9-second video

#101: Take a video of any ONE team member completing the "Cereal Box Grab". Stand on one leg, bend down and grab the lid of any opened box of cereal with your teeth and lift it up as you stand back up on one foot. Must remain on one foot the entire time and can not use your arms or bump into anything else. The video below demonstrates this challenge but with a paper bag. You'll be using a cardboard cereal box (without cereal in it). Multiple team members can be attempting it but only one needs to complete it.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- at least ONE team member completes the "Cereal Box Grab: challenge as outlined above and demonstrated in the video below

#102: Habitat For Humanity Challenge: take a video of any ONE team member using a hammer to completely hit a nail into a piece of wood within a 9-second continuous video. Start with a loose nail (not in the wood) and finish with the nail head flush to the wood surface.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- any ONE team member uses a standard hammer to hit any standard nail into a piece of wood within a 9-second continuous video

- nail should be loose in racer's fingers at the start of the video and be fully nailed in and flush with the surface of the wood within 9-seconds

#103: Take a video of your entire team all crossing under any "boom barrier", which is the often red and white arm at toll booths, parking facilities, etc, that raises up once you've paid.  Each team member must bend down and cross under the boom arm without reaching down to touch the ground or have their back hit the boom at any point.  Please complete this somewhere where traffic is not a safety concern.

- 1 video, all team members visible

- team must be at any standard boom barrier (examples shown below)

- entire team must cross under the boom without putting their hands on the ground or allowing their backs to touch the boom. Racers can bend over forward, so they do not have to "Limbo" the boom.

#104: Take a picture of your team while each racer has a standard-size bottle of water (16 ounces or so) squeezed horizontally between their knees.  The bottle should be unsupported (not held) other than by the insides of each racer's legs.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- each team member has a standard sized water bottle squeezed unsupported horizontally between their knees

#105: Take a video of your team all pushing any RED colored car from a complete stand still, for a full 9 seconds.  The car can be any shade of red, and should be in neutral with the brake off but you must have a driver in the car who can steer and apply brakes as needed. Please complete this somewhere where traffic is not a safety concern.

- 1 video, all team members visible

- team is pushing any RED colored car from a complete stand still for a full 9 second video

- car should be in neutral with a driver steering and braking as needed

#106: Take a video while each racer is arm wrestling a separate stranger inside of a library or bookstore.  What makes this challenge tough is the embarrassment factor of trying to quietly recruit strangers to arm wrestle your team members and then quietly wrestling them without disturbing other patrons in this normally prim and proper environment.

- 1 video, all team members visible and an equal amount of strangers as team members are completing the challenge

- each team member is arm wrestling a separate stranger during the video and the entire team and strangers are inside of any library or bookstore.. Be sure to show enough of your surroundings that HQ can verify your location, otherwise we may ask for a separate picture inside the library or store.

#107: Take a video of your entire team lined up side by side along any yellow painted curb and completing 4 full "Step-Up" exercises on the curb. The team must all be along a section of yellow curb so if your whole team can't fit along the yellow painted section then you'll need to find a longer section.

- 1 video, all team members visible

- entire team is all standing along a portion of curb that is painted yellow

- team members all complete at least 4 "Step-Up" exercises along the curb. Each time you step up and lift your leg that would be considered one step-up (see image below for an example of one variation)

#108: Take a picture of your entire team all hanging from any chain link fence so that your feet are off the ground at the time of the picture. If any team members are having trouble holding themselves on then you'll need to time your picture perfectly as they jump and momentarily place their feet against it right as the picture is taken

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- each racer is hanging from any chain link fence or structure made of chain link with their hands on the chain link and their feet off the ground

#109:  Take a picture of your entire team on any grassy surface all completing the "Plank Caterpillar".  Work together as a team to form one long line of planking and each racer is either planking on their palms or forearms and each racers feet are up on the shoulders of the racer behind them.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- each racer is a part of the "Plank Caterpillar" as described above and shown in the example picture below

SKILL

#200: Take a video of any one of your team members flipping a standard (16 ounces or so) bottle of water onto a table, or hard surface at least waist high, and getting it to successfully remain standing upright once it lands.  The bottle can be filled with as much water as needed to improve your chances of completing the challenge successfully.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- any one of your team members completes the Water Bottle Flip challenge as described above and shown in the video below

#201: Take a picture of any ONE of your team members with at least 6 Cheerios stacked on their nose, while they are standing or squatting and not holding onto anything.  You can use a generic brand of Cheerio if needed, as long as it's the same size and shape. The image below just demonstrates the stacking of the Cheerios on the nose, but the racer on your team would need to be standing up or squatting and will likely have someone else place them while they focus on keeping their nose steady.

- 1 video, team members visible

- only 1 teammate needs to complete the challenge but all can attempt if desired

- one racer has at least 6 separate pieces of Cheerios (or similar brand) stacked on their nose while they are standing up or squatting and not holding onto anything . The picture should be far enough away that HQ can verify they're standing or squatting but close enough that HQ can verify they have at least 6 pieces stacked.

#202: Take a video of any racer from your team completing the "Coin Bowling Challenge". Balance a nickel upright on it's edge on any hard surface (can be any coin but we found a nickel to be the easiest). Then from at least 5 feet away roll another coin on it's edge and knock down the nickel. The nickel must be knocked down while the coin is rolling on it's edge, not after it has fallen and sliding across the surface flat.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- only 1 teammate needs to complete the challenge but all can attempt if desired

- a nickel (or any coin) is balanced on it's edge standing upright with nothing supporting it

- from at least 5 feet away or so roll another coin across the hard surface (like you're bowling it) and knock over the nickel that's standing upright

- the rolling coin must knock over the balanced coin while rolling and not after it's fallen and sliding across the surface on it's side

#203: Take a video of every racer on the team untying one shoelace of another racer on the team and then retying it within one continuous 9-second video. If someone on your team isn't wearing shoes with laces then you can substitute them for a stranger with laces. But each person completing the challenge should have someone untying and retying one of their shoes, and they should do the same for someone else. So the key will be working together and timing it so everyone can do it within one video.

- 1 video, all team members visible

- each racer unties and then re-ties one shoelace of another racer or stranger within one continuous 9-second video

#204: Habitat For Humanity Challenge: stretch out a measuring tape that's at least 25 feet in length and then have any racer stand at one end of it and throw a homemade paper airplane so that it travels that entire distance. Multiple racers can be attempting this but only one plane needs to make it. The plane just needs to make it the full 25 feet across flat ground, but does not have to travel all 25 feet in the air.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- a measuring tape that's at least 25 feet in length is stretched out across the ground

- any racer who is standing at either end of the tape throws a homemade paper airplane and it travels approximately along the path of the tape and travels beyond the 25 foot mark.  The plane can hit the ground before reaching the 25 foot mark and then slide across that point if needed. For quicker verification you could get a closer view of where the plane lands and show that it's past the 25 on the tape.

#205: Using 6 full beverage cans of standard size (soda, beer, etc) place one horizontally on a flat and hard surface and then stack the remaining 5 cans vertically on top of that can. Then take a picture of any two racers balancing the entire structure by only placing one hand each on the top can. The structure should not be held or leaning up against anything else other than one hand from each racer.

- 1 picture, at least 2 team members visible

- team uses standard sized aluminum beverage cans of any brand. Place one can on a hard surface horizontally and stack 5 other cans vertically on top of it.

- any 2 racers each have one hand on the top can supporting the structure, otherwise the structure is not supported by anything else. See image below as an example.

#206: Take a video of any member of your team making a backwards foul shot on a regulation basketball hoop. If the court you're at doesn't have a designated foul line just stand approximately 15 feet from the hoop. You can use any ball as long as it's roughly the size of a basketball (not really small like a tennis ball, etc)

- 1 video, all team members visible

- team is attempting the challenge on a regulation, 10 foot high basketball hoop and shooting backwards shots from a foul line or at least 15 feet from the hoop.

#208: Take a video of your team working together to keep a bubble in the air for a full 9-second continuous video without hitting anything or bursting. The bubble could be from a bottle of bubble mix, or it could be a homemade version using dish soap, etc.  As long as it's a decent size so that our HQ can see that it survives for a full 9 seconds.

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- team works together to keep a bubble afloat for a full 9 second video. Bubble should be large enough for HQ to see it and must not pop or touch any other surface during the video

- racers cannot use their hands to grab the bubble and hold it, it must remain afloat in the air for the full length of the video but racers can blow on it or use props to keep it afloat without touching it

#209: Take a video of any racer on your team using one spoon to catapult another spoon up and into any sized drinking glass or cup. Both spoons will be facing up, and you will hit the wide part of one spoon to force it's handle to flip the second spoon up and into the glass (see series of images below). Multiple racers can be attempting this but only one spoon needs to land in the glass or cup.
