Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.  You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Each checkpoint has a set of validation points below the clue that we will confirm for every submission.  Submit your completed clues to our Race Headquarters throughout the race via your Team Bonfyre and we will notify you quickly of the status using one of these simple responses:

VERIFIED = everything is completed correctly

CODE 1 = you are not at the correct location

CODE 2 = all of the requirements were not met

CODE 3 = all team members were not visible

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly. Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

*This checkpoint will be closing at 2:00pm so unless you want it to be your skip you'll need to arrive before then!

Located within 4 blocks of the Access, solve the puzzle below to figure out the name of the business where you'll need to get your team.  Once there, a trained staff member will guide your team through a series of "asana's" and will take a picture of your team while holding one of these ancient asana's as proof of completing the challenge.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified business

- Team members are all holding one of the ancient asana's

Checkpoint #2

This very long, but gorgeous staircase, lies in the shadows (as they say) of the longest shadow you would find west of Chicago.  The video below was filmed on this staircase as a handful of world-class athletes prepare to climb the structure that casts that long shadow.  Although you won't be climbing that structure (you're welcome), you will train like those athletes by climbing (and counting) the stone stairs they're standing on in the video.

As a team, count or figure out the number of stone stairs it would take to get from the base of this long staircase to the very top.  There are two sets of stairs that lead you from the bottom to the top but you'll only need to count one of the two nearly identical staircases.  We're just looking to find out how many stairs it would take you to get from the bottom to the top, not how many total stairs are at this location.  Once you think you have the correct number take a picture of your entire team at the base of the staircase near the water feature (with the stairs clearly visible in the background), and submit the number in your Team Bonfyre comment thread.  As a kind gesture we will give you a 5 stair plus or minus margin of error (you're welcome again).

You will only get 3 total guesses for the number, so if you get it wrong 2 times then your 3rd guess better be correct or this checkpoint becomes blocked and will need to be your skip!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the base of the specified staircase, and the stairs are visible in the background

- Up to 3 submissions for the correct number (within 5 stairs plus/minus) of actual stone stairs from the base of the staircase to the top. After the 3rd incorrect submission the checkpoint becomes blocked for your team and will need to be your skip

Checkpoint #3

What's the best thing about birthdays when you're a kid?  Well, for a fun kid named Jack who's running around today celebrating his birthday with friends, we hope it's Urban Adventure Racing!  Whether it's your birthday or not, this challenge will make you feel like you're a kid at your own 1st birthday party!  Take a memorable picture of your entire team with either a cupcake or an ice cream cone smashed upside down on each team member's head.  But since life should be all about having your cake and eating it too, make sure you enjoy at least some of the treat before getting covered in it!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible, and completing the challenge at the same time

- Either a cupcake or an ice cream cone is smashed on each team members head and clearly visible

Checkpoint #4

UPDATE: If this checkpoint is not fully functioning just take a picture in front of it. They may be doing some temporary maintenance on it this afternoon.

There are so many reasons to love the location shown with a pin in the 3D rendering below. Not only is it found between two popular Arts destinations, and the plaza looks like an X from above, but the centerpiece of this feature also promotes Peace On Earth.  Once there,  show your desire for Peace On Earth by taking a video of your entire team all hugging the bronze structure at the center of this feature.  This is a challenge where timing may make all the difference.  The video shouldn't start recording until the hugging has begun, and you should be recording for the max allowed time of the video (9 seconds).  Because of the circumstances of this challenge you can either submit a video of your entire team all completing the challenge at the same time (while a kind stranger films) OR you can submit multiple videos with half your team doing it in each video (so someone on your own team can film and watch any valuables).

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge at the same time

                         OR

- Multiple videos, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge separately

- Video(s) must be 9 seconds in length (the maximum that can be uploaded to Bonfyre)

- The specified bronze centerpiece structure is clearly visible and being hugged by team members

Checkpoint #5

This popular LA park shares it's name with a cafe in Manhattan that boasts "the busiest and best breakfast in New York".  It also has some history of it's own, including a statue of a famous composer and a 200+ year old cannon from Boston.  Once you get to this spot find the low curved walls as seen in the image below.

To complete this challenge you'll just need to find out how quickly your entire team can move as one.   Take one continuous video of your entire team traveling across the top of the wall from one end to the other end.  You can complete this challenge on either of the two longer curved walls (not the shorter interior ones).  We've provided a red arrow in the image below to help you pin point one of the two "longer" walls and the path your team should follow.

The video should start with your team at one end and making it to the far end within the 9 second maximum video length you can upload to Bonfyre.  To film one continuous video you can just hold down the record button.  Be sure to try and get all team members in the video as you move from one end to another, but please traverse the wall carefully.  If anyone steps off of the wall you'll need to attempt it again.

- 1 continuous video, all team members clearly visible

- Entire team is traveling on foot across the top of the wall

- Entire team travels from one end of the specified longer curved walls to the opposite end

- Entire team makes it from one end of the wall to the other within the 9 second maximum video length

Checkpoint #6

LA is known for a lot of things, especially news coverage for significant events in our country's history (and maybe not so significant events).  No matter where you are in the city it seems like you can always find media coverage.  This challenge may make you feel differently about that depending on how many people are on your team!  Take a picture of your entire team all doing your best "celebrity pose" with at least as many newspaper vending boxes as members on your team.  For example, the cluster of vending boxes in the image below would work if you had 8 or fewer team members.  However, if you had more than 8 you'd have to find a cluster of vending boxes with more.  Be sure to stand behind the boxes when doing your group celebrity pose so our HQ can clearly see and count the number of boxes.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- At least as many newspaper vending boxes as team members are clearly visible and able to be counted

Checkpoint #7

Not far from the Access is a 4-block long park that is so "spectacular" it was designed for everyone in the entire city.  Scattered throughout that park are benches that would probably have a Hexadecimal Code of FF66CC.  To complete this challenge you'll need balance, timing, and hopefully some good deodorant.  Take a picture of your entire team and as many strangers as necessary to have 7 total people all off the ground on one of these benches.  You can stand, sit, hold on for dear life, or whatever works as long as everyone is on one bench and completely off the ground.  Make sure the picture shows everyone off the ground and all 7 people are able to be counted (not completely hidden from view).

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Entire team and as many strangers as needed to have 7 total people completing the challenge

- Challenge is being completed on any of the specified benches

- All 7 people are on the bench in some way, and completely off the ground

Checkpoint #8

Although this checkpoint may be the outlier of the group, it could be a strategic move to head there if you time it right.  Looking more like a large Lego structure than a clock tower, this colorful piece is the entrance to a popular park at the corner of (Atomic number for Flourine) Street,  and (US Female Soccer star with the last name Solo) Street. Get to this clock tower and take a picture of your entire team while the clock is at any ONE of these times: Top of the hour, 15 minutes after the hour, 30 minutes after the hour, 45 minutes after the hour.  Although you only need one picture, the timing has to be right, so make sure your entire team is in the picture and the time on the clock is clearly visible so our HQ can verify it.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Specified colorful clock is visible in the background

- Clock must be at any ONE of the specified times

Checkpoint #9

Most of our races include something embarrassing, and this would probably fall into that category.  There are two components to this "Goofy" challenge (there's our 1 required Disney reference). The two things you'll need are a dog, and a fire hydrant.  Take a picture of your entire team, a dog, and the dogs owner all standing around a fire hydrant and posing how a dog might typically pose when near a hydrant (legs up)!  All team members and the dogs owner need to be doing the pose (the dog can decide for themself).  The key to this challenge is not only finding a dog, but one that's somewhat close to a hydrant, who is being walked by an owner that won't mind posing like they're peeing on a hydrant.......good luck!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge

- 1 stranger/dog owner is clearly visible and completing the challenge

- 1 dog is clearly visible and with the group

- Entire team and the stranger/dog owner are all posing with legs up over a hydrant

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!  The sign below represents the venue located along South Figueroa Street, north of the Red Line, that you have to get your team to.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you complete the challenge or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then you can celebrate with your team and all the other fun racers at this after race venue (see details below)!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement sent by Race HQ
