Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.  You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Each checkpoint has a set of validation points below the clue that we will confirm for every submission.  Submit your completed clues to our Race Headquarters throughout the race via your Team Bonfyre and we will notify you quickly of the status using one of these simple responses:

VERIFIED = everything is completed correctly

CODE 1 = you are not at the correct location

CODE 2 = all of the requirements were not met

CODE 3 = all team members were not visible

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly. Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

Get to the colorful and constantly changing location featured in the distorted video below.  Once there take a picture of your entire team with the prominent metal sign bearing the 3-word name of this site.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- The metal sign bearing the 3-word name of this location is clearly visible

Checkpoint #2

With members of our X-Team still working regularly on their family Dairy Farm, this challenge is a favorite for our HQ. Get to the area marked by the green pin in the 3D rendering below.  Once there find the brick that was donated to "Milk" and take a picture of your entire team with that brick clearly visible in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- The brick donated to "Milk" clearly visible in the background

Checkpoint #3

So many possible locations for this checkpoint, but none of them are guaranteed to help you complete this one. Find any WHITE-COLORED vehicle on the ROOFTOP LEVEL of any multi-level parking garage and take a picture of it with your entire team.  You will most likely need to take a selfie, but make sure your picture shows enough of the background that we can verify you're on the rooftop level (open air above) of the parking garage, and you are next to a white vehicle.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Your team is clearly on the rooftop level (open air above you) of a multi-level parking garage

- A white colored vehicle is parked nearby on the rooftop level and clearly visible

Checkpoint #4

Austin is obviously famous for their live music, so any good urban race should require you to make some of your own!  Gather a group of at least 5 strangers (non-racers) and take a video of your team singing the first line of the classic 1941 song "Deep in the Heart of Texas", and the group of strangers responding accordingly (with clapping and singing)!  So many talented musicians have performed this tune over the years but the video below features one of the best dressed, and most "adventurous" to ever sing it (in case you need to refresh your memory of how the tune goes).  We're told the louder you sing the better it sounds...

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team members singing the first line of the classic "Deep in the Heart of Texas" song

- A group of at least 5 strangers clearly visible

- The group of strangers respond accordingly to the first line with clapping and singing of their own

Checkpoint #5

Austin's most prominent building has been ranked in the Top 100 for "America's Favorite Architecture" and in a separate poll was ranked the #1 State Capitol building.  So we believe spending some time studying it's incredible design is time well spent.  How long you need to study it may make this checkpoint a game changer in today's race!

As a team, count or figure out the number of large pillars/columns surrounding the base of the Capitol Dome (pictured below).  Once you think you have the correct number take a picture of your entire team anywhere on the grounds of the Capitol with the dome clearly visible in the background, and submit the number in your Team Bonfyre comment thread.

You will only get 3 total guesses for the number, so if you get it wrong 2 times then your 3rd guess better be correct or this checkpoint becomes blocked and will need to be your skip!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is on Capitol Grounds

- Capitol Dome is clearly visible in the background

- Up to 3 submissions for the correct number of pillars/columns surrounding the base of the Capitol Dome. After the 3rd incorrect submission the checkpoint becomes blocked for your team and will need to be your skip

Checkpoint #6

Get your team to the location that the power washer is cleaning in the jumbled picture below.  This spot, named for a local musician considered one of the most important in Tex-Mex music, has a long curved stone bench that can be great for overlooking downtown.  It's on this bench that you'll complete this checkpoint.

Take a picture of your team, and as many strangers (non-racers) as needed, to all stand atop the curved stone bench and create a connected "human chain" (stretch hand in hand) from one end of the bench to the other end.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team members and as many strangers as needed (non-racers) stand atop the curved stone bench and form a connected human chain (outstretched arms) from one end of the bench to the other end

Checkpoint #7

It's really easy to get around Austin and find everything you need thanks to most of downtown being on a grid-like system.  To complete this checkpoint you'll need to use some street sense, and maybe a little luck. Take a picture of your entire team with a 3-digit address on a building or store that has three different numbers, and each number is higher numerically than the previous one.  In other words, the second digit is more than the first, and the third digit is more than the second.  So if you found an address that was 257 it would be valid, but 429 wouldn't be.  The address 179 would be valid, but 465 wouldn't be.  This number needs to be a 3-digit address on a building or storefront, and not just a random 3-digit number you find along the way in a sign, phone number, etc.  Take the picture far enough away that we can get a good sense it's a building address, but close enough that the number is clearly legible.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- The 3-digit building or store address is clearly visible

- The second digit in the address is larger numerically than the first, and the third is larger than the second

Checkpoint #8

To figure out the name of the thing you need to find, you'll have to solve the code below using the keypad of your phone:

945537  937497

Once you know what popular attraction you'll need to find, get your team to it's location.  Timing this checkpoint correctly, or maybe just getting lucky, may make all the difference, because it's location is typically changing all the time.

Take a video of your entire team along it's path as it goes past you and have everyone on your team wave excitedly to those on it.  The attraction must be moving in the video, and it must be traveling past your location, not just off in the distance.  If for some reason a rain shower is overhead this attraction may be temporarily shut down for safety reasons, in which case you can take a video of it parked.  However, we don't anticipate this happening and we will be confirming this throughout the day.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- The designated attraction must be moving past your team's location

- Team member(s) must be waving to those on the attraction as it passes by

Checkpoint #9

Our infatuation with fountains started last year and we're gonna keep it going here in Austin.  This popular spot (named for the local figure who stood at the forefront of the Women's Movement) became one of our favorite water features in any race last year, so we're sending teams back to get an even better soaking!  To complete this checkpoint take a video at least 9 seconds in length (the most you can upload to Bonfyre) of each of your team members doing either push-ups or jumping jacks directly over one of the grates pictured below.  This is another challenge where timing may make all the difference.  The video shouldn't start recording until you're over the grate, and you should do your chosen exercise for the entire 9 second recording.  You can either submit a video of each team member doing the challenge separately (so someone on your team can film) or all team members can complete it at the same time on separate grates in one 9 second video (while a stranger films).

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge at the same time

                         OR

- Multiple videos, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge separately

- Video(s) must be 9 seconds in length, which is the maximum that can be uploaded to Bonfyre

- Team members must be directly over the center of one of the grates pictured below

- Team members must be either doing push-ups or jumping jacks throughout the video, over the grate

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

This checkpoint will be the final one you complete.  The FINISH LINE for the entire race!  Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Celebrate with your team and all the other fun racers at the after party venue (see details below)!
