Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.  You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Each checkpoint has a set of validation points below the clue that we will confirm for every submission.  Submit your completed clues to our Race Headquarters throughout the race via your Team Bonfyre and we will notify you quickly of the status using one of these simple responses:

VERIFIED = everything is completed correctly

CODE 1 = you are not at the correct location

CODE 2 = all of the requirements were not met

CODE 3 = all team members were not visible

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly. Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

Checkpoint #1

*This checkpoint will be closing at 2:30pm so unless you want it to be your skip you'll need to arrive before then!

In most Urban Adventure Races you'd expect the checkpoint to stay still, but this is not like any other race! To find out where your checkpoint is right now just click on the button below and follow it's location.  The "Moving Target" will be wearing something red, and will be moving around Seattle throughout the day.  If you think you've found the target approach them and say "You're Beautiful".  The actual moving target will respond "X MARKS THE SPOT".  Once you've found them, take a picture with your entire team and the Moving Target.  You may want to take it quickly or discreetly so other nearby teams don't see you.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- The Moving Target is clearly visible

Checkpoint #2

Other than the Needle, this attraction is probably the second most prominent feature of the city skyline.  It was the highest of it's kind on the West Coast (at 175 feet) when it opened in June of 2012.  Figuring out where you need to get to is easy, but timing your picture will be more challenging.  This attraction has 41 gondolas of the same kind, and one that is not like the others (as Big Bird might say).  To complete this checkpoint you must take a picture of your entire team, with that "VIP" gondola clearly visible in the background, while it's at the very top of the attraction.  Although you don't need to be directly under this attraction (or even on the same city block) to take a valid picture, you will need to be close enough, or take a clear enough picture that we can zoom in and verify that the VIP gondola is atop the attraction when you snapped it.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- The specified "VIP" gondola is clearly visible and identifiable

- The "VIP" gondola is at the top of the ride when your picture is taken

Checkpoint #3

Something that may be even more prevalent than coffee shops and flannel shirts in this city are "Columba livia".  To complete this challenge take a picture of your entire team with the same number of "Columba livia" in the background as you have team members.  For example, if you are racing solo you'll need to take a picture with just one (not as easy as it sounds), or if you have a team of 5 you'll need to gather 5 for your picture or take a masterful selfie so only 5 are visible in the background when you snap the picture.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

-"Columba livia" are clearly visible and identifiable

- Number of "Columba livia" in the picture must match the number of members on your team exactly

Checkpoint #4

The location shown with a pin in the 3D rendering below is not only an Xplore tradition but it's also found in the heart of an epicure's dream this weekend!  Once there, take a video of your entire team all touching and holding the large dome-like structure at the center of this feature for at least 5 seconds.  Since the maximum length of video that you can upload to Bonfyre is only 9 seconds, be sure to time the recording so you get the required amount of time touching the structure (you can also trim a longer video down using the Bonfyre app before uploading it to our Race HQ).

Because of the circumstances of this challenge you can either submit a video of your entire team all completing the challenge at the same time (while a kind stranger films) OR you can submit multiple videos with half your team doing it in each video (so someone on your own team can film and watch any valuables).

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge at the same time

- Multiple videos, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge separately

- Entire team must all be touching and holding the specified large dome-like center of the feature for at least 5 seconds

Checkpoint #5

In 2009 this location was named the 2nd germiest attraction in the world, and it has certainly only gotten worse since.  Finding this popular alley is not the hard part of this challenge.  Once there take a picture of your entire team all, at the same time, doing what world record holder Susan Montgomery Williams perfected.  If someone on your team can't do what she perfected then you'll need to recruit 1 stranger for every team member who can't do it and have them join your team in doing it. For example, if you have a team of 4 and 2 team members can't do this then you need to recruit 2 strangers to do it with you but still have all 4 team members in your picture as well.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Entire team is at the specified "germy" attraction

- Entire team completes the challenge at the same time OR an equivalent number of strangers join the team and complete the challenge for any team member who can't

Checkpoint #6

Less than a block from the Access is one of the tastiest looking sculptures around.  This red treat is not hard to find, but like some of our other challenges, that's not what makes this checkpoint tough.  In honor of "The Bite" going on this weekend, this challenge will test your bite, and your speed. Because if you don't move quickly you might be covered in it.  Take a video of your entire team in front of this tasty sculpture all biting the entire contents off of Popsicles (any color) down to the stick within one 9 second video (the maximum you can upload to Bonfyre).  Each team member should have their own Popsicle, and if you plan on keeping the entire contents in your mouth while completing the challenge just be careful not to choke (young children are able to just attempt the challenge to be verified).  The real challenge of this checkpoint is finding Popsicles and getting them to the designated location without destroying them in the process.  If your Popsicle should melt in the package (either completely or partially) you'll need to consume all of it within the length of the video in addition to whatever is left on the stick.  Be thankful this race wasn't a few days ago!

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Entire team is at the specified "tasty" red sculpture

- Entire team each bites off all the contents of a Popsicle down to the stick within one 9 second video (maximum length you can upload to Bonfyre)

- If the Popsicle is melted in the package (either partially or completely) you'll need to consume all of it within the 9 second video in addition to whatever is left on the stick

Checkpoint #7

With massive wild fires spreading through this state there are thousands of men and women who are risking their lives to put them out and protect the citizens of Washington.  To honor them take a picture of your entire team, and at least 2 strangers, all hugging either a fire station, a real life fireman (or woman), or a life-sized fire truck or fire vehicle (not a toy).  If you hug a station be sure the picture is far enough away and shows enough of the building that we can verify you are at an actual fire station.  If you do get to interact with a fireman or woman be sure to thank them for everything they do to protect the city and it's citizens!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- At least 2 strangers are visible and completing the challenge with your team

- Team members and strangers are all hugging either a fire station, a real life fireman (or woman), or a life sized fire truck or fire vehicle

Checkpoint #8

This very long, but gorgeous staircase, lies in the shadows (as they say) of a very tall man who "works" every day from 7am-10pm, except on Labor Day.  Many of Seattle's active citizens use these steps to stay in shape and today you will join them by climbing (and counting) each of the stone stairs.

As a team, count or figure out the number of stone stairs it would take to get from the base of this long staircase to the very top.  There are two sets of stairs that lead you from the bottom to the top but you'll only need to count one of the two nearly identical staircases.  We're just looking to find out how many stairs it would take you to get from the bottom to the top, not how many total stairs are at this location.  Once you think you have the correct number take a picture of your entire team at the base of the entire staircase (with the stairs clearly visible in the background), and submit the number in your Team Bonfyre comment thread.  As a kind gesture we will give you a 5 stair plus or minus margin of error (you're welcome).

You will only get 3 total guesses for the number, so if you get it wrong 2 times then your 3rd guess better be correct or this checkpoint becomes blocked and will need to be your skip!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the base of the specified staircase, and the stairs are visible in the background

- Up to 3 submissions for the correct number (within 5 stairs plus/minus) of actual stone stairs from the base of the staircase to the top. After the 3rd incorrect submission the checkpoint becomes blocked for your team and will need to be your skip

Checkpoint #9

This discreet Belltown establishment which could also be called a "Blind Pig" or "Blind Tiger" is in a hard to find locale, as it should be.  Located only a few blocks from the Access, the only way to enter (not including any possible secret knock) is through a wooden door in a quiet alley.  This door is marked with the numbers "2205" and a plaque bearing the establishment's name.  Take a picture of your entire team in front of this door, while making the "shhhh" pose.  We've already said too much, don't tell anyone about this conversation.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Specified "secret" establishment's door is visible in the background

Checkpoint #10

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!  The logo and picture below represent the venue located along 1st Ave in Belltown that you need to get your team to.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then you can celebrate with your team and all the other fun racers at this after race venue (see details below)!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement sent by Race HQ
