Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.  You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Each checkpoint has a set of validation points below the clue that we will confirm for every submission.  Submit your completed clues to our Race Headquarters throughout the race via your Team Bonfyre and we will notify you quickly of the status using one of these simple responses:

VERIFIED = everything is completed correctly

CODE 1 = you are not at the correct location

CODE 2 = all of the requirements were not met

CODE 3 = all team members were not visible

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly. Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

Checkpoint #1

*This checkpoint will be closing at 2:00pm so unless you want it to be your skip you'll need to arrive before then!

Just recently celebrating it's 10 year anniversary this 24+ acre park's name makes it sound 10 times older than it actual is.  Finding this popular spot won't be tough, but finding a specific person in it might be.  Once there, find the athlete who is wearing some blue apparel that you'd typically see Anderson Silva or Chuck Liddell wearing, or find the Marvel character that has been portrayed by Chris Evans in recent movies (they will likely be together).  You will most likely find them in the garden area south of a really "Great" part of the park.   Approach them and they will show you a quick move from the sport or art-form they actively compete in. Then take a picture OR video of your entire team executing this move successfully. If there aren't other teams at the checkpoint you can execute the move on the athlete or Marvel character who instructed you, otherwise you can execute the move amongst yourselves with the instructor or the Marvel character visible in the background.

- 1 picture OR video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified location and the instructor or Marvel character is visible

- Team members are executing a move taught to them by the athlete/instructor or Marvel character

Checkpoint #2

Formerly the site of an old infirmary, this park named for the first woman judge in the state is now home to a variety of play structures.  Get your team to this park and then complete the following challenge that you were never allowed to do as a kid:

Take one continuous video of your entire team all going down any of the red playground slides head first one after the other.

Because the maximum video length you can upload to Bonfyre is 9 seconds, you'll need to do this quickly, and as an entire team.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible and completing the challenge at the same time

- Team is at the specified park

- All team members must go down any of the red playground slides head first one after the other

- All team members make it from the top of the slide to the bottom within one continuous video that is 9 seconds in length or less (the maximum video length that can be uploaded to Bonfyre)

Checkpoint #3

This time of year is typically a baseball fans favorite.  But since it looks like the Chicago-based teams won't be playing in October, fans here need to cherish every last pitch and run home.   Get your team to any city managed baseball field (so not pro) and take a video of your entire team running from 3rd base to home plate. If there is a baseball game being played on the field you can run parallel to the base path (still from 3rd to home) but somewhere off the field to make sure you're not interfering with any game or spectators.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Your team is at any city-managed (basically not a stadium) baseball field

- Team members run from 3rd base to home plate on the field, or if a game is being played you can run the same distance parallel to the base path somewhere off the field

Checkpoint #4

This venue may have locations all across the country, but Chicago's rich music culture (and a pair of brothers) have helped establish this town at the forefront of this music genre.  Find this venue where SIMO is playing later tonight and take a video of any stranger who's wearing something in the shade of blue describing what makes them happy to your entire team, while this venue is clearly visible in the background.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- The specified venue is clearly visible in the background

- At least 1 stranger wearing something in the shade of blue is visible and describing what makes them happy within a 9-second max video (the most you can upload to Bonfyre)

Checkpoint #5

This public art work has been both beloved and controversial over it's 10 year history.  It has overcome a lot to now be seen as a major part of this city's pop culture. It's name is also something that would likely be worn by the character "Harold" in the movie series below (click play to watch a distorted clip).

Regardless of the weather you're always likely to see a variety of Chicagoans here, some much larger than others. Even though some of these Chicagoans "spit" on the black granite below, this place is hugely popular when the mercury rises. To get the full Chicago experience, get your team to this art feature and take a picture of your entire team all getting hit with the "spit" on any part of your body.  Fortunately for the Sanitation Department, these Chicagoans don't "spit" constantly, so you'll need to time your picture during one of the times when they are "spitting" and make sure everyone on your team is clearly being hit by the "spit" on some part of their body as the picture is taken.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified public art feature

- Team members are all getting hit by the "spit" on some part of their body

Checkpoint #6

Chicago has had such a huge impact on comedy, including developing what is considered modern improv way back in the 50's and 60's, and being a breeding ground for countless comedic legends.  To continue making this a funny town, find any stranger around the city wearing something with the word "Chicago" on it and take a picture with them and your entire team all making your funniest pose or facial expression for the camera.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- At least 1 stranger wearing something with the word "Chicago" on it is included in the picture and their apparel is clearly visible and legible (you can send a second picture with a close up if necessary)

- Team members are making their funniest pose or facial expression

Checkpoint #7

With over 200 theaters and art galleries, and 7000 restaurants, it's no wonder people want to visit this city!  All of those people need to stay somewhere and if you're not into letting people crash on your couch than you should be thankful for Chicago's abundance of classy hotels.  Although this Central Loop hotel's name makes it sound more like a place to dance than to sleep you won't find it's entrance anywhere below ground. It's located along the street that shares it's name with two early presidents, who happened to be father and son.  Although this hotel has another location in the Loop, found along the water and just west of a road named after a state, you will need to complete this challenge at their more centralized Loop location.  Once there, take a video of any two people on your team completing the quarter spin challenge as seen in the video below, while the specified building's entrance is clearly visible in the background.  If you are racing solo you will need to find a stranger to spin the quarter while you attempt to stop it with your finger.

If you need to learn how to do the Quarter Spin Challenge you can watch the video below for an example but basically, have one teammate (or stranger if you're racing solo) flick a quarter so that it spins on a hard surface somewhere near the specified building (so that the building's entrance is visible in the background).  Another teammate will then need to press down on the top of the spinning quarter so that it stops spinning and remains upright.  Remember that Bonfyre only allows up to a 9 second maximum video to be uploaded into your Team Bonfyre, but you can record a much longer video until you successfully complete the challenge and then just trim the video in the Bonfyre app to show the portion when you successfully complete the challenge.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible if possible

- Team is at specified Central Loop hotel location and it's visible in the background at some point in the video

- Either 2 teammates, or yourself and a stranger (if you're racing solo), complete the quarter spin challenge as shown in the video below and described in the clue above

Checkpoint #8

The monument marked by the purple pin in the aerial image below honors an Illinois and national figure. He was such a brave soldier and general, and had such an impact on our nation that the Founder/CEO of our company was named after him (for real).  Among countless other achievements, he also led the movement to recognize Memorial Day in this country. He had such an impact on this state that he is one of only 3 people mentioned by name in the Illinois state song.

His monument stands atop a large hill, which is convenient considering the challenge you'll need to complete.  Once you get to the monument have someone take a video of your entire team log-rolling down the grassy hill this monument stands atop.  Each member will need to do at least 5 rotations as you roll down the hill in order for it to count (we want to make sure you're good and dizzy as you get up to run to your next checkpoint).  Remember the max length of video you can upload to Bonfyre is 9 seconds so you'll need to be rolling fairly quickly.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified monument atop the grassy hill

- Each team member is log rolling down the grassy hill and does at least 5 rotations

Checkpoint #9

This bronze sculpture and plaque mark the origin of the devastating events that began in October of 1871, and got blamed on a heifer.  Once there take a picture of your entire team with the large bronze sculpture in the background, while any ONE of your team members is holding a live flame.  Please be careful with the live flame and extinguish it appropriately so we don't have a repeat of 1871.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Specified bronze sculpture is visible in the background

- At least one racer on the team is holding a live flame of some kind

Checkpoint #10
