Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

The address of this Walnut Street business would be "MDXXVIII" in Roman numerals.  It's not unusual to see people trying hard to escape from here, even though all of the fun happens inside.  Once you arrive at this location proceed through the front doors, past the doorman, and continue straight to the back of the lobby where you need to take the staircase down to the "ETR" challenge.  When you get downstairs a staff member will instruct you on how to complete this checkpoint.  Once you complete the checkpoint you will receive an item.  Take a picture of your entire team and that item as proof that you completed the challenge and escaped ahead of the competition!  If our HQ can't verify the item you're holding we may ask you to submit a separate picture of just the item.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified Walnut Street location

- The designated item is clearly visible and identifiable confirming your team has completed the challenge

Checkpoint #2

Philadelphia is one of the most diverse cities, and has some of the largest Irish, Italian, and Puerto Rican populations of anywhere in the country. Each one of the 1.5 million people in and around Philly is beautiful in their own way, which is what makes this challenge so tough. Get your team to the Square that was home to the city's publishing industry and shares it's name with a park in New York's Greenwich Village.  Somewhere within that Square will be The Beautiful Person you need to find and they will be wearing something blue.  If you think you've found the correct person approach them and say "You're Beautiful".  The actual person will respond "X MARKS THE SPOT".  Once you've found them, take a fun picture with your entire team and the Beautiful Person.  You may want to take it quickly or discreetly so other nearby teams don't see you.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified Square

- The designated "Beautiful Person" is clearly visible and identifiable

Checkpoint #3

Did you know Mother's Day began right here in Philly back in the early 1900's?  Since we celebrated the awesome women in our lives this month you'll get to continue what started here in Philly by completing the official #KINDChallenge!  Take a video of your team giving a store-quality flower to any woman with a stroller.  The woman needs to be with a stroller, aka pushing it or standing/sitting with it and not just a woman with a child.

The flower needs to be store-quality (aka bought in a store or from a street vendor, not just a weed you picked along the way). It can be purchased anywhere around the city but to get a free one, at a location that's only a block from another checkpoint in the race, go to the Whole Foods on South Street and find the KIND table out front.  They will give you a quick KIND treat to refuel you and a free flower for your team.  Did we mention Whole Foods tends to be a great place to find people with strollers!

Be sure to tell the woman "we think you're KINDA AWESOME" when you give her the flower and maybe KIND will post it on their social media later today!

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team gives a store-quality flower to any woman with a stroller

- Team tells the woman "we think you're KINDA AWESOME" when giving her the flower

Checkpoint #4

From beautiful Boathouse Row, to the iconic Kelly Drive named for a famous oarsman, to countless national regatta's held on the city's rivers, it's no secret that Philly has the best rowing community in the country.  This checkpoint will give you the chance to experience what it's like to be neck and neck with the competition in the final 200 meters of a world-class regatta!  Get your team to the indoor rowing facility about 3 blocks from the Square named for someone who was an astronomer, instrument maker and patriotic leader of the Revolutionary era.

Once there, enter through the business with the initials "RSS" and take the stairs on the left up to the 2nd floor where the rowing studio is located.  Find a staff member who will instruct you on how to complete the challenge.

Have another team take a picture of your team while you're on the machines completing the challenge, or have the trainer take it if there aren't any other teams there.   Each racer should complete the challenge on their own machine.  If there are limited number of machines available when you arrive just wait your turn and have each racer get on a machine when one becomes available.  You can submit multiple pictures to show each racer completing the challenge.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified indoor rowing facility

- Each racer is on a separate machine completing the Rowing Challenge

Checkpoint #5

Get your team to the Square where some believe the historic, yet highly questionable, experiment using a kite and a key may have taken place. Although this place was once called Skid Row and is not far from a Bolt of Lightning, it's not as dangerous as it sounds. It's actually filled with so many fun things to do that you can choose ONE of these two options:

Take a picture of your entire team with the memorial brick found within this Square whose engraving says "Ouch! Don't Step On Me". If searching throughout almost 8 acres of space for one brick wasn't hard enough, make sure you take a selfie which includes your entire team and the clearly legible engraved brick.  If our HQ can't read the engraving we will ask you to take a separate picture and submit it.

OR

Take a video of your entire team all riding the attraction in this Square (while it's moving) that shares it's name with Rogers and Hammerstein's second musical.  Your entire team needs to be riding the attraction at the same time while it's moving so if there's limited availability you'll need to wait for the next opportunity to all get on.  If you're lucky you might get a chance to ride atop local hero Smarty Jones! Be aware that completing this checkpoint will cost $3 per person.

  OPTION #1

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified Square

- The memorial brick with the engraving "Ouch! Don't Step On Me" is clearly visible and legible

OPTION #2

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified Square's attraction

- The attraction is moving (operating) during your video and the entire team is on board

Checkpoint #6

A hot air balloon trip in 1793 made Philadelphia the site of the first human flight in the Americas.  To honor this, take a video of your team as you complete the "Philly Flight Challenge", as described below:

Create a paper airplane and then send one member of your team to the 2nd level (one above ground level) of any parking garage.  The rest of your team should be located below them outside the garage on the sidewalk level ready to catch it.  The racer on the 2nd level should launch the paper airplane into flight from the garage and any of your team members on the sidewalk must catch the plane before it hits the ground.  The racer in the garage must launch the plane out away from their body and into the air, and not just drop it directly downwards to the teammates below.

If you are racing solo you'll need to recruit a stranger or another racer to be the person in the garage as you attempt to catch the airplane at ground level.

To record a video from within the app you (or any stranger filming you) needs to hold down the record button for a continuous video. Keep in mind that the max length of a Bonfyre video you can upload is 9 seconds, however you can film a longer clip if needed to make sure you capture the whole challenge and then just trim it down in the app before submitting.

- 1 video, all team members visible

- A team member (or a stranger if racing solo) is located on the 2nd level of any parking garage

- The person located in the garage launches the paper airplane and any of the team members on the ground level catches the plane before it hits the ground.

Checkpoint #7

It's pretty rare to have a garden in the heart of the city, especially one that takes up three separate lots.  It's even more rare when the garden is filled with stuff like kitchen tiles, bike wheels and plates!  This garden took 14 years to "grow" and when you see it you'll know why. Get to this location and find a word describing one of your five senses (six if you're Bruce Willis, spoiler alert...he's dead the whole time) embedded somewhere along the front of the garden.  Once you've found the word describing one of your senses take a picture of your entire team with the word clearly visible and legible in the background, although you may want to do it quickly and discreetly so other teams don't see you.

FYI...you won't need to enter this garden or pay any money to complete this checkpoint.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified garden

- The word describing one of the five senses is clearly visible and legible in the background

Checkpoint #8

Located on our nation's oldest residential street are homes dating back to 1702. Many tourists take their time walking this narrow stretch, admiring each little detail of the historic architecture. Today you'll be doing the same, but probably just at a much faster pace.  Somewhere along this historic street is a home that has a unique fixture on it's front door.  This fixture is similar to something featured in the logo of the largest convenience store chain in Greater Philadelphia (a great place for locals to grab a "hoagie", but don't try to call it anything else).  Once you've found this home take a picture of your entire team while the specified fixture is visible and identifiable in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified house on the historic residential street

- The specified fixture on the home's front door is clearly visible and identifiable

Checkpoint #9

Just last month Philly launched their new bike share program!  With over 60 bike share stations throughout the area this checkpoint might be one of the easier ones to get to, but how well you're able to balance while getting soaked with cold water will determine how quickly you complete it.  Get your entire team to any of the numerous bike share stations around the city and take a video of your entire team while each racer is balancing (with arms and legs outstretched and not touching the ground or the bike) on a separate bike seat at the station and each racer gets an entire bottle of water poured over their head by a stranger.

FYI...each racer will need to balance on a separate bike so finding a station with enough docked bikes for your entire team will be your first challenge.  Racers from another team can be considered strangers (but get to know them after the race and they won't seem so strange).  You won't necessarily need one stranger for every racer on your team but you will need a separate full bottle of water (at least 16 ounces) poured over each racer's head by a stranger.  So if a stranger can pour a bottle in each hand and stretch to two separate racers then you won't have to recruit as many strangers. Just remember the max length video you can upload to Bonfyre is 9 seconds so you'll need to have all racers on your team balancing on separate bikes (not touching the bike or ground throughout the entire video), and get a full bottle of water poured over each racer within that timeframe.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at any of the newly installed Philly Bike Share stations

- Each racer is balancing on a separate bike seat (with arms and legs outstretched and not touching the ground or the bike throughout the video)

- Each racer gets a full bottle of water (at least 16 ounces) poured over their head by a stranger while balancing on the bike

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The name of the establishment you need to get to, which is found along North 18th Street, is described using the clue below.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully start heading towards this location and our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do once you get there.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like, you can relax with your team, some other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement outlined by Race HQ
