Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

Traveling this 298 foot stretch would be a lot easier if Sinai or Olivet were allowed to carry you up it. But why pay them 50 cents, when Urban Racers are tough enough to do it themselves?  This challenge will require TWO pictures to prove you completed it, and they can be sent to HQ for verification either separately or both at the same time. Take ONE picture with your entire team at the very bottom of this attraction, and ONE picture with your entire team at the very top. There are bright-colored structures at either end that clearly define the top and bottom if you need help figuring it out, or just make sure to capture enough of the attraction in the background that we can clearly identify you're at the correct spots. Finding this attraction is not the tough part of the challenge, but you will quickly realize what makes this checkpoint tough when you attempt it.

- 2 pictures, all team members clearly visible

- 1 picture of the entire team clearly at the very bottom of the specified attraction

- 1 picture of the entire team clearly at the very top of the specified attraction

Checkpoint #2

Currently inside this museum you can "Experience" an exhibit focused completely on the artist whose two songs are being mashed together in the cover song below (press play to watch it). In fact, just a few weeks ago this artist visited their own exhibit in this museum (next year we'll coordinate our schedules better) and posted a video of it on Instagram that got over 1 Million likes.  Get your team outside the front of this museum and take a video of your team, and at least 2 strangers, either singing one of this artists songs, or dancing along to one of them (you can play their music from another teammate's or stranger's device) while the specified museum is clearly visible and identifiable in the background.

- 1 video, all team members visible and completing the challenge

- At least 2 strangers are completing the challenge with your team

- Group is either singing or dancing along to any of the specified artist's songs

- The specified museum is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #3

If you don't like racing through the streets with smog in your lungs one solution may be to have more electric cars driving around. But those cars need somewhere to charge up.  Thankfully LA has plenty of places around the city to do that, but finding them may be tricky if you don't know what to look for.  Once you've found one take a picture of your entire team with any electric car charging port or station clearly visible in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Any designated electric car charging station is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #4

Xplore has become known for it's tradition of getting up close and personal with some of the best urban fountains throughout the country, and we're going to continue that here in LA to kick off our 3rd season!

This popular water feature is located just below a much larger fountain that was built in memory of a Chief Administrative Officer for the County of Los Angeles.  With scorching temperatures this past week this playful spot was filled with both kids and adults looking for some relief.  The water feature is made up of many jets of water spraying from the ground. Once there, take a 9-second video (the max you can upload to Bonfyre) of your team as each member is doing a plank (one variation is shown below) directly over top of a separate jet of water.  You'll each need to be planking directly over top of a separate jet that is actively spraying water, but timing it properly could be the difference between staying somewhat dry and getting completely soaked (good luck with that)!

* If needed you can submit two videos, each showing half your team completing the challenge so that someone on your own team can take the video and hold any belongings you want to keep dry.

- 1 video, or multiple videos if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified water feature just below the memorial fountain

- Team members in the video are each doing a plank directly over a separate jet that is actively spraying water

- Video should be 9-seconds long, or very close to that (the max you can upload to Bonfyre)

Checkpoint #5

Located along the walls of an underground Metro station, this film strip style artwork by an artist named Joyce consists of hundreds of hand-painted movie scenes. In order to prosper at this checkpoint you'll need to find the scene that includes the character who the NASA astronaut is paying homage to in the recent picture shown below.  Once you've found it, take a picture of your entire team all attempting to do the character's "salute" while the character is clearly visible and identifiable in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified artwork and the scene with the specified character is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

- Team members are attempting to do the specified character's "salute"

Checkpoint #6

The LA skyline is filled with tall buildings, including the tallest building west of Chicago. Tall buildings means lots of elevators! For this challenge you can choose ONE of these two options, although if you are claustrophobic or have a fear of a Hollywood-style elevator disaster...you may want to choose neither:

Take a picture of your entire team and as many strangers as needed to have at least 10 total people packed into one elevator. The elevator does not have to be moving. It can be stopped at a floor with the door open but all participants must be fully inside.

OR

Take a picture of your entire team inside one elevator while at least 2 members of your team are doing handstands inside that elevator.  Racer's legs can be held up by other team members or strangers while doing their handstand.  If you are racing solo you'll need to find a stranger to do it with you. The elevator does not have to be moving. It can be stopped at a floor with the door open but all participants must be fully inside.

  OPTION #1

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Entire team and as many strangers as needed to have at least 10 total people inside one elevator

OPTION #2

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Entire team is inside one elevator and at least two team members (or yourself and a stranger if racing solo) are doing handstands inside that elevator

Checkpoint #7

LA and it's residents understand the serious risk fire has to this area, which is why they have a great respect for those that put their life on the line to keep the city safe.  This building, which is now a museum, was the first building in the city designated to house fire fighting crews and their equipment. It's first occupants were called the Volunteer 38's, which represented how many men made up the original Engine Company 1.  Get to this historic building and take a video of your entire team all performing the well-known safety technique taught by those who serve in this field of work, while the former fire station is clearly visible in the background.  This safety technique is made up of 3 prominent action words and is often taught to kids, but can be fun for Urban Adventure Racers to practice too!  When performing the technique be sure to shout out the 3 prominent steps so we know you are doing them in the proper order!

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible if possible

- Team is at the specified historic former fire station and it is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

- Team members are performing the well-known safety technique

Checkpoint #8

This downtown Brazilian restaurant's name could probably be called "colher de madeira" in it's country's native language, which also describes what is displayed on the sign above it's entrance.  Get to this location and take a picture of your entire team each balancing a spoon on your tongue horizontally (as demonstrated by the LA resident shown below) while the restaurant's sign is clearly visible in the background.   Each member of your team should have their own spoon and it should be balanced across the tongue unsupported (aka, not held on by your hands or lips).  Timing and balance will be critical to get the perfect picture and complete this checkpoint.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified restaurant and the specified sign is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

- Each team member is balancing their own spoon, unsupported, horizontally across their tongue

Checkpoint #9

Some would say LA is full of "fake" people, and you will probably hope that's the case so you can complete this challenge quickly.  Take a picture  with your entire team and any life-sized mannequin.  The mannequin will need to be at least a full torso but doesn't necessarily have to have limbs or a head.  If the mannequin is in a store front window you can take the picture from outside the store, otherwise you should attempt to take the picture standing with the actual mannequin. When taking the picture be sure to do your best "Blue Steel" pose to tap into your inner fashion model.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Life-sized mannequin is clearly visible and with the group

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The sign for the establishment you need to get to, whose address is along South Broadway, is shown below.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like, you can relax with your team, the other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement sent by Race HQ
