Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.  You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Each checkpoint has a set of validation points below the clue that we will confirm for every submission.  Submit your completed clues to our Race Headquarters throughout the race via your Team Bonfyre and we will notify you quickly of the status using one of these simple responses:

VERIFIED = everything is completed correctly

CODE 1 = you are not at the correct location

CODE 2 = all of the requirements were not met

CODE 3 = all team members were not visible

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly. Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

Checkpoint #1

*This checkpoint will be closing at 2:00pm so unless you want it to be your skip you'll need to arrive before then!

Located just 5 blocks or so east of the Access, this fitness facility's name consists of the term described in the image below.  That term is also a slang for a person who works on an oil rig, which is not what you'll be doing, but it may be just as tough.  Get your team to this business then head inside and find their trainer to complete the challenge.   During the challenge, take a picture or video of your team while you're completing it, or have the trainer do it for you if there aren't any other teams at the checkpoint with you.

- 1 picture OR video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified fitness facility

- Team members are completing the challenge instructed to them by the trainer

Checkpoint #2

Even according to the plaque on his monument, this figure was one of the most controversial in Texas history. This monument of the former Texas governor, who was elected in 1859, stands at the north end of a water feature you would have seen MLK near while talking about his dream.  Get to this monument of the famous Texas figure and take a picture of your entire team all off the ground while you're directly under the stone archway that his statue stands atop.  The challenge just requires every member to be off the ground at the same time beneath the arch, so if you're having trouble getting a stranger to time the picture perfectly then we suggest getting creative with the walls of the arch to prop your entire team of the ground.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified monument of the Texas figure

- All team members are off the ground in the picture and directly beneath the specified stone arch

Checkpoint #3

The adventure has begun and you're now racing against the clock!  But for this challenge you'll need to race to a clock!  There are plenty of places around the city to complete this checkpoint, but timing it perfectly could make this checkpoint a game changer.  Find any DIGITAL clock around the city that you can not adjust the time (aka...excluding watches, mobile devices, bedside clocks, microwaves, etc) and take a picture of your entire team with the clock in the background while all of the digits displayed on the clock add up to the number 10.  For instance, 8:11 would work because 8+1+1 = 10.  Or 10:27 because 1+0+2+7 = 10. Although you only need one picture, the timing has to be right, so make sure your entire team is in the picture and the time on the clock is clearly visible so our HQ can verify it.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- A digital clock that can not be adjusted by your team is visible in the background

- The sum of the digits on the clock are equal to 10

Checkpoint #4

Xplore has become known for it's tradition of getting up close and personal with some of the best urban fountains throughout the country, and we're going to continue that here in H-Town!

This checkpoint is in a park whose name combines one of the space shuttles (appropriate for this city) and the Hex Code of #00FF00. Once there, find the large interactive fountain that sprays jets of water onto an area of multi-colored tiles.  Then take a 9 second video (the max you can upload to Bonfyre) of your team all doing planks in a circle formation (with your heads together, as seen in the image below) over top of any tile where a jet of water is landing.  To clarify, the jets spray out from one tile and the water lands on another tile.  Any tile where the water is actively landing (for the full length of video) is a tile that your team can all be planking over top of.

* If needed you can submit two videos, each showing half your team completing the challenge so that someone on your own team can film it and hold any belongings you want to keep dry.

- 1 video, or mulitple videos if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified water feature in the specified park

- Team members in the video are doing a plank circle over one tile

- The tile the team is all planking over is one that a jet of water is actively landing on

Checkpoint #5

The main attraction on this property houses over 200 species of animals, and almost 500,000 gallons of water, which is ironic since it used to be a Fire Station. Opening in 2003 this 6-acre property now also consists of restaurants and carnival rides. It's on one of these rides that you'll complete this challenge.

Find the ride that in London would be called an "Eye", in Seattle is referred to as "Great", and one of the first ever was "Somer's".  Once on it, take a team selfie at the highest point of the ride as you get one of the best views of the Houston skyline behind you.

* Be aware that if you complete this challenge it will cost you about $4 per person, although the team picture and experience you get out of it could be priceless.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is on the specified ride at the specified location

- Team is at the highest point of the ride when the picture is taken

Checkpoint #6

Not only has Houston recently been dubbed "America's new capital of great food" by a renowned food magazine, but it was also crowned "the Dining Out capital of America" by another well known publication.  This is largely because of so many great dining options in and around the city.  Fortunately, all of these options will only help you in completing this tricky challenge.

Find any eating establishment around the city, that has a type of food (so not including coffee shops) in the name of the establishment and take a picture of your entire team with the sign at that location.  For example, a restaurant called Subway would not be acceptable, but one called The Sandwich Cafe would be accepted because a sandwich is a type of food and is in the name of the establishment.  The type of food will need to be in the name of the establishment and listed on signage somewhere on the building.

* If you have any questions about an establishment and whether it would be acceptable before heading there feel free to ask us in your Team Bonfyre.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- A sign listing the name of an eating establishment is clearly visible and legible and located somewhere on or in the establishment

- The sign listing the name of the establishment includes a type of food (not a drink) in the name

Checkpoint #7

Here's a riddle to help you find this checkpoint:

The artwork you seek is loved by all, and painted on a south facing exterior wall.  The name of the business it's attached to is kinda like if an Oak had a Fu-Manchu.  If you can't figure out the road you'd see it from don't get too angry and please don't vent, it's also the last name of Bill who had an adventure that was definitely most excellent.

Once there, take a picture with your entire team AND AT LEAST 2 STRANGERS all posing like any of the 5 adjectives listed on the wall, while the colorful artwork is clearly visible behind you.  Since it's such a beautiful part of this city make sure to take a picture from far enough away so you capture most of it behind your team and our Race HQ can verify it quickly.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified artwork and it's clearly visible and identifiable in the background

- At least 2 strangers are clearly visible and joining your team for the picture

Checkpoint #8

The large hill marked by the purple pin in the image below is part of a popular outdoor performance venue.  This hill, and the adjacent venue, share it's name with the main sponsor of the car that's currently atop the NASCAR Sprint Cup leaderboard.  It was built in 1948 with dirt taken from excavations for the growing Texas Medical center.

Once you get to this hill have someone take a video of your entire team log-rolling down the grassy slope marked by the pin in the image below.  Each member will need to do at least 5 rotations as you roll down the hill in order for it to count (we want to make sure you're good and dizzy as you get up to run to your next checkpoint).  Remember the max length of video you can upload to Bonfyre is 9 seconds so you'll need to be rolling fairly quickly.

*If possible try to show the venue at some point during your video or make sure it's in the background so that we can verify you're at the correct location.  If we can't verify it by the video you submit, we may request you also take a picture of your team with the venue behind you to make sure you're at the correct location.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified hill adjacent to the performance venue

- Each team member is log rolling down the grassy hill and does at least 5 rotations

Checkpoint #9

We love anything in the shape of an "X", which is why a Rail Road Crossing is our favorite street sign.  There are multiple options where you can complete this around the city so strategy will be key.  Get your team to any location around the city that has either of the two actual railroad crossing signs shown below and take a picture of your entire team with the sign clearly visible in the background.  Although there may potentially be other places around the city where you can complete this besides an actual railroad crossing, the sign will need to be a regulation street sign, and not just a picture of one or a smaller version.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Either of the specified Rail Road Crossing street signs are clearly visible

- Sign is an actual regulation street sign and not a picture, smaller version, etc.

Checkpoint #10

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!  This downtown Irish establishment along Main Street that shares it's name with the female TV character shown below is where you'll need to get to.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then you can celebrate with your team, the other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this venue (see more details below)!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement sent by Race HQ
