Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

Checkpoint #1

Get your team to the oldest bike shop in Houston, which shares it's name with an early American "Xplorer" who is most famous for his settlement of what is now Kentucky.  Once there, a bike shop staff member will instruct one racer from your team on how to complete the "cycling challenge".  Once your team member completes the challenge you will receive an item confirming you've completed it successfully.  Take a fun picture with your entire team and that item while some of the bikes from the shop are visible in the background.  If needed, our HQ may ask you to send a second close-up picture of the item in order to verify it.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified bike shop

- The designated item is clearly visible and identifiable confirming one team member has completed the cycling challenge

Checkpoint #2

Some locals believe that a monster lives beneath the surface of the Bayou.  This is your chance to wake it up!  Hidden somewhere along the bridge in the picture below is a device that when pressed will cause the Bayou Monster to let out a huge "burp".  The "burp" will appear in the water where the purple pin is shown below.  Finding and pressing the device is just the first part of this challenge, as you'll need to time everything perfectly in order to get the ultimate selfie with the Bayou Monster.  Once you've figured it out, take a picture of your entire team while the Bayou Monster is actively "burping" in the water behind you.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified section of the Bayou

- The Bayou "Monster" is actively "burping" in the water behind you and it is clearly visible

Checkpoint #3

Houston has had a prominent impact on our nation's history in a lot of ways, but probably most importantly on our country's air and space accomplishments.  To honor this, take a video of your team as you complete the "Air and Space Challenge", as described below:

Create a paper airplane and then send one member of your team to the 2nd level (one above ground level) of any parking garage.  The rest of your team should be located below them outside the garage on the sidewalk level.  The racer on the 2nd level should launch the paper airplane into flight from the garage and any of your team members on the sidewalk must catch the plane before it hits the ground.  The racer in the garage must launch the plane out away from their body and into the air, and not just drop it directly downwards to the teammates below.

If you are racing solo you'll need to recruit a stranger or another racer to be the person in the garage as you attempt to catch the airplane at ground level.

To record a video from within the app you (or any stranger filming you) needs to hold down the record button for a continuous video. Keep in mind that the max length of a Bonfyre video you can upload is 9 seconds, however you can film a longer clip if needed to make sure you capture the whole challenge and then just trim it down in the app before submitting.

- 1 video, all team members visible

- A team member (or a stranger if racing solo) is located on the 2nd level of any parking garage

- The team completes the Air and Space Challenge successfully as described above

Checkpoint #4

Although they're not Superman these seven kneeling men are made of steel.  They represent each of our uniquely diverse continents and their mesh frames are made up of letters, numbers, and symbols from a variety of languages.  The artist has stated that the arrangement of characters is completely random and no words or phrases are found in the mesh frames of the sculptures, which is unfortunate for your team in this race.  Find any of these seven men and take a picture of your entire team while you all point to an "X" found in the sculpture's mesh frame behind you.  The X doesn't have to be a letter from the English language as long as the character or symbol is generally in the shape of an X.  If needed you can submit two pictures, one of your group and the steel man, and a close-up of the X in the mesh frame.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at any of the seven specified steel men

- Team members are pointing to an X found in the mesh frame of one of the steel men

Checkpoint #5

The coordinates of the fun playground shown below are approximately Latitude: 29.753839 and Longitude: -95.360547.  If you happen to know the first NASA retired shuttle and the color of the jacket you'd get if you won at Augusta that may help too.  Once there, take a picture of your entire team inside the cargo net shown below while you all lie on your backs and place your head towards the center of the net.  If you have a large team, other teams are attempting to complete it at the same time, or lots of little feet are trying to bounce in it around you, this challenge could get interesting pretty quickly.  Be sure to lie down and get up slowly to avoid hitting heads with anyone else in the net.

*If you are prevented from getting into the cargo net by a park employee you can take a picture beside the net instead.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified playground

- Team members are all inside the specified cargo net and lying on their backs with their heads placed towards the center of the net

Checkpoint #6

Today's race will go down as the toughest conditions we've raced in so far this year, so you should be proud (and sweaty).  To properly document the conditions you're racing in, take a picture of your team with any digital temperature clearly visible in the background while making your best "tough" pose.  There are tons of places around the city to capture this checkpoint but it can not be on a mobile device such as a smart phone or iPad.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Digital temperature is clearly visible in the background and is not on a mobile device

Checkpoint #7

These 12 sculptures, designed by an artist whose last name contains the letters "NLERNU", are more often found floating in water, and not floating above various entry points and major destinations along the bayou.  Once you've found any of these 12 sculptures, take a video of your entire team singing the first verse of the song whose lyrics include "Gently to the shore, if you see a lyin' bear don't forget to roar", while strangers pour an entire bottle of water on each racer at the same time.  The bottles should be at least 16 ounces and each racer should get a separate full bottle poured on them while you all sing the specified song.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at any of the 12 specified sculptures and it is visible in the background

- Team members are singing the first verse of the specified song (not the lyrics referenced in the clue)

- An entire bottle of water (at least 16 ounces large) is poured onto each team member by a stranger

Checkpoint #8

In Mexico this week they will be celebrating "El Dia Del Nino", which encourages you to unleash your inner "nino".  The place your team needs to get to enables people of all ages to do that on a daily basis with interactive exhibits like "Amazingly Immature".  This is your chance to celebrate all the "ninos" in your life by doing something fun or immature.  Once there, find any of the 13 oversized "los ninos" along the exterior of the building that are posing like large X's (which is why we like them so much) and complete either ONE of the two challenges below:

Take a picture of your entire team all jumping in the air in a full body X pose (arms and legs outstretched), alongside any of the 13 oversized "los ninos".  The entire team should attempt to be off the ground in the picture, so working together and timing it well could be the difference.

Take a picture of your entire team and at least 2 strangers all posing alongside any of the 13 oversized "los ninos" while each person in the group is doing some kind of "amazingly immature" facial pose/expression.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team members are attempting to all jump in the air in a full body X pose

- Any of the 13 over-sized "los ninos" are visible in the background

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- At least 2 strangers are completing the challenge with your team

- Any of the 13 over-sized "los ninos" are visible in the background

- Group members are doing some kind of "amazing immature" facial pose/expression

Checkpoint #9

Houston is a wonderful melting pot of people with all different backgrounds and styles.  Lucky for you, a lot of those people love to look awesome and represent Texas with their attire!  To complete this challenge, take a picture with any 2 strangers that are wearing cowboy style boots, a cowboy style hat, or a combination of both.  For example you can find two people both wearing boots, two people both wearing hats, or one wearing boots and another wearing a hat. You must find two separate people though, so someone wearing both boots and a hat won't count.  Once you've "wrangled up" these two strangers take a picture with them and your entire team and make sure their hat or footwear is visible in the picture.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- 2 strangers are included in your picture

- Each of the 2 strangers must be wearing either cowboy boots or a cowboy hat

Checkpoint #10

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The name of the establishment you need to get to is something that's also pictured in the scrambled image below.  It's address is located along Main Street, although if you ask the government where it is they will probably tell you it doesn't actually exist.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like, you can relax with your team, the other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement sent by Race HQ
