Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

** This checkpoint will close at 3pm so make sure to get there before then if you plan on completing it! **

Finding this business is "elementary my dear", although it's not a school.  It's located about 7 blocks east of the Access and would likely be the favorite place in the city for the author whose initials are "ACD".  It's not unusual to see people trying hard to get out of here, even though all of the fun happens inside.  Once you arrive at this location enter through the door with El Paso's area code on it and head downstairs to the basement where a staff member will instruct you on how to complete the challenge. Once you complete the checkpoint you will receive an item.  Take a picture of your entire team and that item as proof that you completed the challenge!  If our HQ can't verify the item you're holding we may ask you to submit a separate picture of just the item.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified business

- The designated item is clearly visible and identifiable confirming your team has completed the challenge

Checkpoint #2

This fun downtown business, whose name in an anagram would be "AWESOMGKR" is located on the same block as a hotel named for a President.  Once there, head inside and find the "Super Shot" machines.  In order to use these machines you'll need a few credits, which can be purchased at the front desk upon arriving if needed.  Once you've gotten the machine to operate, take a video of any combination of your teammates making 2 successful shots within a maximum 9-second continuous video (the maximum length that can be uploaded to Bonfyre).

FYI...the cheapest amount of credits you can purchase costs 3 dollars, which would likely give your team multiple attempts to complete the challenge if needed and still have some for a future visit (the credits never expire).

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- Team is at the specified Super Shot machines at the specified downtown business

- Any combination of teammates makes 2 successful shots on any combination of Super Shot machines within one 9-second continuous video

Checkpoint #3

Seattle is popular for lots of reasons, but one of the top things for visitors to do while here is watch some fish being tossed.  But why fight the crowds when you can do this challenge anywhere in the city?  Take a video of any combination of teammates catching a total of 2 Swedish Fish candies in their mouths, thrown to them by another racer or stranger from at least 2 arm lengths away.  You must use the Swedish Fish style candies (or a nearly identical generic brand) and the person tossing must be at least 2 arm lengths away.  Any 2 people on your team, or one racer that catches both, must do so successfully within one 9-second continuous video (the maximum length you can upload to Bonfyre).

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- Any combination of teammates catch a total of 2 Swedish Fish style candies in their mouths within a maximum 9-second continuous video

- The candies are thrown to them by another racer or a stranger from at least 2 arm lengths away

Checkpoint #4

Towards the north end of this park, which was named for the first openly gay legislator here in Seattle, stands a fountain.  This fountain is shaped like a volcano and unfortunately for you it's overflowing.  Get your team to this fountain and take a full 9-second video of your team as each racer has their backs pressed against the side of the "volcano".  In other words you will basically lean back so that your backs are against the "volcano" as the overflowing water runs down your back.  If needed, your team can submit two separate videos, with half of your team doing the challenge in each so that someone from your team can be filming and watching your valuables.  Make sure your backs are pressed against the fountain for a full 9-seconds and each racer from your team has a turn against the fountain.

- 1 video, or multiple videos if needed, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified fountain in the specified park

- Racers have their backs pressed against the fountain for the full 9-second video

Checkpoint #5

Started nearly 30 years ago along the California coast, this sport (or training methodology) has grown dramatically in recent years.  The business you're looking for, who specializes in this type of activity, is not actually owned by us...so don't let their name fool you!

This business you're looking for has two locations in or around the city that provide this type of training but you need to complete this challenge at their waterfront location.  On a typical day inside these facilities you'd likely see a lot of intense WOD's, but thankfully you WON'T NEED TO GO INSIDE to complete this challenge.  Get your team to the front of their waterfront location and take a video of your entire team completing 2 full Burpees within a 9-second continuous video while the business is clearly visible behind you.   If needed, you can submit two videos, each with half your team completing the challenge so that someone on your own team can film.  For quick verification, be sure the very familiar (and awesome) business name found on the front windows is visible behind your team.  If you're not sure what a Burpee is you can CLICK HERE to see a description.

- 1 video, or multiple videos if needed, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified waterfront location and it is identifiable

- Teams members all complete 2 full Burpees within one 9-second continuous video

Checkpoint #6

Great urban adventure racers always have a keen eye and a great ability for timing things perfectly as they're racing through the city.  You'll need both to complete this challenge successfully.  Take a picture of your entire team while any traffic light is on yellow and a red car is clearly visible somewhere in the background.  Not only do traffic lights only remain yellow for a few seconds, but any red car you happen to see could be gone by the time you snap the picture so timing will be key.  Check your picture before submitting and make sure you took the picture from a good angle so that your entire team is visible, we can clearly tell the light is yellow (no glare), and a red car is visible.  The car needs to be an actual car, not a toy or picture, and can be any shade of red as long as it's somewhere in the red family.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Any traffic light is on yellow and it is clearly visible

- Any red colored car is clearly visible somewhere in the background

Checkpoint #7

Located somewhere inside the 5 acre park that adjoins the Convention Center to First Hill, is a beautiful art installation meant to share people's thoughts on aging.  This project was born in a post-Katrina New Orleans by artist Candy Chang in an effort to gather wisdom from elders and young people alike.  Find this large chalkboard inside the park and write a response to the phrase the artwork provides for you.  Then write your team's name next to your response and take a picture of your entire team with your hand-written contribution to the artwork clearly visible and legible behind you.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified art installation inside the specified park

- The teams hand-written response to the art installation's phrase and their team name are clearly visible and legible on the art

Checkpoint #8

The tough part of this challenge is not finding where to complete it, but rather timing it perfectly.  There are two oft-photographed signs atop Seattle's popular Market.  Get your team to the northern-most one and take a picture of your team and the sign while a boat or plane is passing somewhere behind the sign.  The boat or plane doesn't need to be directly behind the sign because then it would be blocked from view and difficult to verify, just somewhere clearly visible passing by in the background.  Because this large red sign sits atop the Market your first challenge will be finding a nearby location where you have some perspective of the water and sky behind it but are still close enough that HQ can identify everything needed.  In order for that to happen your team should be within a block or two of the sign, not just somewhere else in the city where you think you can capture both in the picture.  Then the real challenge becomes figuring out how to complete this challenge without wasting too much time waiting for one of these to randomly pass behind it.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- The northern-most Market sign is clearly visible and identifiable and your team is within a block or two of it's location

- A boat or plane capable of carrying humans is passing in the background behind the sign and is clearly visible

Checkpoint #9

KIND CHALLENGE: Seattle remains home to several influential music groups, labels, and venues.  The music scene here has shaped entire genres for decades and will continue doing so long into the future.  Traveling around this city you never know when you might walk by some small-time street performer that will one day shape the entertainment world as we know it.  Sometimes all they need is a little KIND encouragement.  Take a video of your team giving a monetary tip of any value (either change or bills) to any street performer or street musician and tell them "we think you're KINDA AWESOME" as you drop the tip into their container.  The performer should be an actual street entertainer working for tips, not just a stranger you get to sing/dance/juggle/etc.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team gives a monetary tip to any valid street performer or street musician performing for tips

- Team tells the performer "we think you're KINDA AWESOME" when giving them a monetary tip of any value

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The downtown establishment you need to get to, which is found along 5th Avenue, is shown below.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully start heading towards this location and our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do once you get there.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like, you can relax with your team, some other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!

- All team members present at the Finish
