Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.  You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Each checkpoint has a set of validation points below the clue that we will confirm for every submission.  Submit your completed clues to our Race Headquarters throughout the race via your Team Bonfyre and we will notify you quickly of the status using one of these simple responses:

VERIFIED = everything is completed correctly

CODE 1 = you are not at the correct location

CODE 2 = all of the requirements were not met

CODE 3 = all team members were not visible

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly. Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

If you didn't know this museum was named for it's founders, you might think it's purpose is for educating people about large packs of buffalo, or some other animal. Instead it is dedicated to the art and culture of Native American people, which continue to have a lasting influence, especially on this part of the country.  Found along the Lite Rail route, this museum also includes a spiral-shaped outdoor amphitheater that can easily be seen from a satellite.  Once you're at this location take a picture of your entire team all doing the Warrior yoga pose, to honor the proud people this museum is dedicated to, while the museum is clearly visible in the background.

*In order to not disturb potential visitors to the museum and the landscape surrounding this beautiful complex, feel free to remain outside of the black gate surrounding the property when taking your picture. As long as the museum building is visible in the background our HQ will verify it.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified museum and it is clearly visible in the background

- Team members are doing the Warrior yoga pose in the picture

Checkpoint #2

This city is getting psyched up for XLIX!  Phoenix will soon be the center of the world for millions of passionate followers.  Just this week, the downtown area started preparing by installing a massive version of the object that is used during events like XLIX.  It sits along the street that shares it's name with the American hero who crossed the ice covered Delaware River and attacked the enemy on Christmas night.  Although this object is commonly referred to as a certain animal's skin, it was actually originally made of an animal's bladder.  How'd you like to be the one in charge of inflating that? Find this recently installed downtown promotion and take a video of your entire team pretending to spike an imaginary version of this object, and then all doing your best TD celebration!

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified XLIX large promotional object

- Team members are doing a TD celebration of some kind

Checkpoint #3

This checkpoint can be completed anywhere around the city, and there are multiple locations that have what you'll need.  In almost every city there are walking paths made up of engraved bricks or pavers, and Phoenix is no different.  The problem is most people walk right over them and don't take the time to truly notice each message.  To complete this challenge simply find any engraved brick or paver that includes the first name of any of the 4 guys pictured below.  Once you've found it, take a picture of your entire team with the brick or paver clearly visible (and legible). If needed, you can submit a second picture with a close-up view of the engraving so we can confirm the name.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Engraved brick or paver is clearly visible

-The first name of any of the 4 specified men is included in the engraving and is clearly legible

Checkpoint #4

Especially with Veteran's Day having been this week, it's important to honor those that have served, and those that have given everything for our freedom.  Although the actual ship that is being portrayed in the dramatic attack scene shown below (press play to watch) still sits below water at it's final coordinates, the anchor is displayed here in Phoenix.  The attack killed 1,177 crewmen on board, accounting for more than half of the lives lost during that infamous day.  In honor of Veterans everywhere, get your team to this memorial and take a picture of your entire team while each member is making the shape of a heart with their hands, while the anchor is clearly visible behind you.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified memorial and the ship's anchor is clearly visible

Checkpoint #5

If you ask the artist, whose initials are "J.E.", what Her Secret Is to creating art pieces like the one here in Phoenix, she might say Patience.  She has also been known to state "there's no right or wrong way to interpret the work", although people's imaginations vary greatly.  Finding this iconic masterpiece is easy, but recovering from this checkpoint could take a while.  Since we think it resembles a beautiful tornado, take a video of your entire team as each one of you spins around quickly, arms out-stretched, doing at least 5 full rotations within a 9-second video (the max length that can be uploaded to Bonfyre), while the iconic art piece is clearly visible in the background.  As you each spin be sure to loudly count each time you rotate so we can be sure everyone gets in 5 full rotations. Because of the requirements of the challenge we recommend you all complete this on the grassy area in the park that houses the art work (since there's a good chance someone will face plant after you complete it).

- 1 video, all team members visible

- The iconic art piece is clearly visible in the background

- Team members are spinning around and complete 5 full rotations within a 9-second video length

Checkpoint #6

This checkpoint isn't too tough, unless of course you have a crippling fear of singing with strangers on public transit while moving through the city.  If you do...then it's time to overcome that fear!  Take a full 9-second video (the max you can upload to Bonfyre) of your entire team, and at least 2 strangers, all singing one of the transit-specific songs in the videos below (press play to watch them) while on either a moving bus or a moving train (you only need to do one).  If you're on a moving train you should all sing part of the first song below.  If you're on a moving bus you should all sing part of the second song below.  Figuring out where you'll utilize public transit during this race could be the difference in getting ahead of the competition!

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Entire team AND at least 2 strangers are singing the specified song for your chosen mode of transit

- The train or bus you're on must be moving while the video is recorded

Checkpoint #7

This cultural center building, which is depicted in the 3-D rendering below and marked with the purple pin, is something you'd more likely see in the countryside of County Cork. You also might think you'd need to dial "353" before calling this checkpoint, but fortunately it won't take a trans-Atlantic flight to get this experience.    Once you've gotten to the most prominent building of this cultural center, which looks like a castle, take a picture of your entire team kissing the stones that make up the exterior facade of this structure. This is a treasured tradition in the country that this Center represents, so if you think you might be a little behind in the race then this is the place to change your luck!

**Be sure to either have someone take a picture of your team from far enough away that we can verify you're kissing the correct building, or take one of your team kissing it up close and then one group shot with the building in the background and submit both.

- 1 picture (or 2 if needed), all team members visible

- Team is at the specified castle-shaped Cultural Center building

- Team members are kissing the stone exterior of the building

Checkpoint #8

Xplore has become known for it's tradition of getting up close and personal with some of the best urban fountains throughout the country, and we're going to continue that here in Phoenix!

This water feature is located at the center of downtown's two-block $500 million mixed use destination described as the "central hub", since many people gather here for everything from dining, to shopping and entertainment. The water feature, found in the outdoor plaza of this destination, and not far from a Gypsy, is made up of many jets of water spraying from the ground. Once there, take picture of your team as each member is doing a plank (one variation is shown below) directly over top of a separate jet of water.  You'll each need to be planking directly over top of a separate jet that is actively spraying water.

* If needed you can submit two pictures, each showing half your team completing the challenge so that someone on your own team can take the picture and hold any belongings you want to keep dry.

- 1 picture, or mulitple pictures if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified water feature in the specified downtown plaza

- Team members in the picture are each doing a plank directly over a separate jet that is actively spraying water

Checkpoint #9

Get your team to any working fire station around the city. Once there, take a video of your entire team all performing the well-known safety technique taught by those who serve in this field of work, while the fire station is clearly visible in the background.  This safety technique is made up of 3 prominent action words and is often taught to kids, but can be fun for Urban Adventure Racers to practice too!  When performing the technique be sure to shout out the 3 prominent steps so we know you are doing them in the proper order!

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible if possible

- Team is at any working fire station and it is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

- Team members are performing the well-known safety technique

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The rockin' establishment along East Jackson Street you need to get to (shown below) is named for someone often called "The Godfather", because of how he pioneered his field of work.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do at this location.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like you can relax with your team, the other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement sent by Race HQ
