Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

Located only about 6 blocks from the Access, the location you need to get to is a fitness facility whose name is made up of just 4 letters. Those letters (in their correct order) appear in the title of a famous 1984 movie, if you remove two letter E's from one of the words.  According to parents who took their kids to this PG rated movie, it was so violent (I guess that heart removal scene was just too scary) that it forced the film industry to come up with the PG-13 rating.  Once you arrive at this 4-letter fitness facility, head inside the main lobby and take a picture of your entire team all flexing your muscles in front of their large neon sign.  Once you have submitted your picture to HQ be sure each of you gets your 1-day free guest pass from a staff member!

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified fitness facility lobby and the large neon sign is visible in the background

- Team members are flexing their muscles

Checkpoint #2

A woman by the name of Greta died about 2 weeks ago at the age of 92. She was the alleged female subject in an iconic 1945 photo taken here in NYC that was then published in Life Magazine.  Located about 20 blocks southwest of where the actual "encounter" occurred is a colorful mural painted on the side of a building that celebrates that moment.  Once there, find any stranger (female or male), or multiple strangers if desired, and take a picture as everyone on your team gives them what Greta received that day. Don't worry, it doesn't need to be as aggressive as the one in the original encounter, just a sweet one on the cheek will do (unless of course you find someone you like, and they give you permission, then go for it!)

- 1 picture, team members visible

- Team is at the specified colorful mural

- Team members are giving at least one stranger what Greta received in the original iconic image

Checkpoint #3

NYC has always been known for it's diversity. It's where the term "melting pot" was coined, and it is said that over 800 languages are spoken throughout the city.  To complete this challenge take a picture of your team and any two flags that are flying or on display and are from two different nations.  These need to be actual life-sized flags, not just images or miniature versions in tourist shops and they need to be flags that represent an actual country not just a company logo, etc..  One of the two flags can be USA, but doesn't have to be. The flags don't necessarily have to be flying right next to each other, as long as your team and both flags are visible in your picture.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Two life-sized flags are flying or on display in the background and they are from two different nations

Checkpoint #4

The spiral-shaped interactive fountain you need to get to is located on a pier whose name is shared by the largest privately held building materials supplier to professional contractors and build-it-yourselfers in the US.  Coincidentally their corporate headquarters is in a town that also shares it's name with the pier you need to get to. Once there, take a video of your team members attempting to navigate straight across the entire fountain from one edge to another by crossing through the center of the fountain and then back to the point you began, all within a 15 second max video.  The surface may be slippery so be careful as you make your way through the fountain and back. Timing your journey perfectly and tapping into your agility skills may be the difference between leaving this challenge dry or soaked.

* If needed you can submit two videos, each showing half your team completing the challenge so that someone on your own team can film it and hold any belongings you want to keep dry.

- 1 video, or multiple videos if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified interactive spiral-shaped fountain on the specified pier

- Each team member is actively attempting to navigate straight across the entire fountain from one edge to another by traveling through the center of the fountain and then back to the point where they started, all within a 15 second video

Checkpoint #5

There aren't too many better places in the world to encounter celebrities than New York!  But it's rare that two of them are on the same city block at the same time.  For this challenge you have two options that can be completed on the same city block, but you only have to do ONE of them:

1. Take a picture of your team all embracing the celebrity who President Obama joked this week couldn't attend a White House event because he "undoubtedly is off playing a black president again".  We're told by local celebrity insiders that he will be standing outside promoting a business where many of his A-list "friends" are as well.

2. Find the man that goes by the name "J.T." and is one of the best in the world at "girning".  We can hardly believe that he is able to do what he does but once you find him outside his favorite business take a picture with him while your whole team and he are "girning".

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at either of the two specified locations and the specified "celebrity" is clearly visible with your team

Checkpoint #6

There's something about NYC that just seems to make the taxis drive a little crazier!  And that's bad news for you trying to complete this challenge! Take a picture of your team and any yellow taxi whose vehicle ID number adds up to 10 or 20.  The taxi ID number is located on the rear corners of the vehicle as well as across the marquee that is located on it's roof.  There will likely be 3 digits and a letter, and if those 3 digits add up to 10 or 20 snap a picture of your team and that vehicle before it pulls away. Just make sure the taxi is yellow and the ID number is clearly visible and legible before submitting it to HQ.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Any yellow taxi is visible

- The digits in the taxi ID number add up to 10 or 20 and they are clearly visible and legible

Checkpoint #7

This 58-story mixed use skyscraper on Fifth Avenue is getting a lot more attention in recent months.  It's most well-known resident and the organization located on the fifth floor of the building are very concerned about the 8 states that are represented by the seals in the image below.  Get to anywhere outside of the front of the building and take a picture of your team with any stranger whose driver's license is from one of the states represented below, while the building is clearly visible and identifiable in the background. If needed you can submit two pictures, one with your team and the stranger holding up their ID in front of the building, and a second close-up picture of the ID to prove it's from one of the designated states.

*Please note, the stranger can cover their personal information with their finger, we just need to confirm which state the ID is from

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified skyscraper and it is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

- A stranger whose ID is from any of the 8 designated states is in the picture with your team and their ID is identifiable

Checkpoint #8

This museum, which is the only one in North America dedicated to it's subject, is a place where Pythagoras would likely spend most of his time if he were in NYC.  Since opening on December 15, 2012 this place has been dedicated to enhancing the public's understanding and perception of a subject that impacts everyone's lives on a daily basis. Get to anywhere out front of the building and take a video of any member of your team, with their eyes closed and headphones removed, reciting the first 12 digits of the number that is often celebrated on March 14th, while the museum is clearly visible and identifiable in the background.

- 1 continuous video no more than 15 seconds long, team members visible

- Team is at the specified museum and it is identifiable in the background

- Any ONE team member recites the first 12 digits of the number that is often celebrated on March 14th

- The team member reciting the digits has their eyes closed and any headphones removed from their ears

Checkpoint #9

Originally called a "Biscuit" and produced by the National Biscuit Company this now famous treat has a block named after it in Chelsea where the original factory stood.  To celebrate New York's role in bringing this treat to the world, complete the Chelsea Biscuit Transfer Challenge. Take a video of any team member placing a vertical stack of 4 of these treats in their mouth and another teammate (or stranger if you're racing solo) using only their mouth to take the full stack from them and holding it in their mouth without using their hands or dropping any during the transfer.  Start the recording while the first team member is holding the stack in their hand and then places it in their mouth (open wide!).

- 1 video, team members visible

- One team member places a vertical stack of 4 of the specified treats in their mouth and a second team member (or stranger if racing solo) transfers the stack to their mouth without using their hands during the transfer
