Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

Checkpoint #1

The fountain shown below, named for a pair of well-known local brothers, and not a US president (despite it's name), just opened this of course we created a challenge to get our racers in it!  Once there, take a video of your team members attempting to navigate the inner perimeter of the fountain (along the path shown by the red arrows in the image below) within a 15 second video.  The surface may be slippery so you do not need to make it all the way around the inner perimeter within the 15 seconds as long as you are moving along the designated path. Timing your journey perfectly could be the difference between leaving this challenge dry or soaked.

* If needed you can submit two videos, each showing half your team completing the challenge so that someone on your own team can film it and hold any belongings you want to keep dry.

- 1 video, or mulitple videos if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified fountain

- Each team member is actively navigating around the inner perimeter of the fountain along the path shown by red arrows in the image below within a 15 second video

Checkpoint #2

Looking more like a giant Rubix Cube than an art installation, these colorful storage containers were unveiled here in the city this past February and were designed to recognize artists throughout history.  The names of 392,485 artists are covering the piece, which means you either have a ton of options to complete this challenge, or a ton of names to look through to find one you need.  Once there, find any artist etched into the monument who shares the same first name with any of the 4 men shown in the image below, then take a picture of your team members pointing to that name. Please note that the artist just needs to have the same first name as any of the men below, but it does not necessarily need to be spelled exactly the same. If it's hard to read the name and get your team in the picture then submit one picture of your team at the monument and another up close picture with a team member pointing to the name.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, team members visible

- Team is at the specified art installation

- Team members are pointing to a first name that is shared with one of the specified men below and it is legible

Checkpoint #3

Find any PARKED vehicle whose license plate contains numerical digits that add up to 10, no more, no less. So if the plate were "CF2H 5K3" it would be acceptable because those numbers add up to 10 and there aren't any additional numbers. Once you've found a valid plate take a fun picture with your team members and the plate clearly visible and legible in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- A license plate on a parked vehicle is clearly visible and legible in the background

- The sum of all the numerical digits on the plate add up to 10, no more, no less

Checkpoint #4

To figure out the door your team needs to get to, solve the riddle below:

Found inside a "house" located about 5 blocks from the Access. Part of it's name is something in your hand. One of the longest running in the US, the first to have lights and phones for their guests. Inside is a door made of something so pure, but looks so fowl. Get to this location and take a picture of your team and the specified door.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible if possible

- Team is inside the specified location and the specified door is clearly visible in the background

Checkpoint #5

September is an important month for spreading awareness of a disease that nearly 16,000 children under the age of 21 get diagnosed with each year.  This garden, located on over 2 acres here in the city, is one of 24 across the country built by a non-profit organization focused on celebrating life and surviving this disease.  It is a safe haven and a resource for helping in the healing process.  Within the garden are 16 standing plaques with inspirational or informational messages.  Once there, find any of these 16 plaques that you think would inspire or help heal someone impacted by the disease and take a team picture all flexing your muscles to honor the strength of those that have fought it or continue to fight it.

*Please be respectful of anyone else in the garden or any events that may be taking place during the race*

- 1 picture, or mulitple videos if needed, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified garden and any of the specified plaque messages is visible and legible

- Team members are flexing their muscles in honor of those who have fought the disease or are fighting it

Checkpoint #6

In 2010 a British entrepreneur with the initials "JWH" bought the company whose product would lead to his death later that year. He was riding the product along a cliff path when he lost control and fell 80 feet to his death.  That same product is often being ridden around Chicago by large groups of people, so thankfully there aren't any cliffs nearby.   Take a picture of your team and any stranger actively riding one of those products around the city, not just an empty one or someone standing next to one. Capturing a picture of your team and this person before they ride out of view could be the toughest part of the challenge. .

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Any stranger actively riding one of the designated products is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #7

Press the play button on the video below and figure out what historic attraction the artist is singing about. Then find the location where it began here in Chicago.  Once there, take a picture of your team and the sign that commemorates where it began while any red colored car is driving by in the background.  You (or someone taking your team picture) will need to time the picture perfectly so that you capture your team, the specified sign, and the red car.  The car can be any shade of red but it needs to be driving by the location in the background and not just parked nearby.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified sign that commemorates where the historic attraction began

- Any red colored car is driving along the road in the background, past that specified location

Checkpoint #8

Finding this landmark will be easy, since it is one of the largest of it's kind in the world. It was also the starting point of the Amazing Race season 6, which should make you feel like a true adventure racer! It's design represents Lake Michigan with four sets of sculptures that symbolize the four states that border the lake.  What makes this landmark unique, and this checkpoint challenging, is that it changes in size throughout the day.  To complete this challenge take a picture of your team and the landmark while it has grown to it's maximum size of nearly 150 feet!  Timing your arrival will be key to completing this challenge and moving on before it shrinks back to it's average size.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified landmark

- The landmark has grown to it's maximum size of nearly 150 feet, and it is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #9

With October approaching quickly and the Cubs in 1st place this challenge could be critical to this city's sports history!  In 1945 a local legend named "Murphy" was denied from entering Wrigley Field during a World Series game and a curse was placed on the team that has stuck for over 70 years.   Get to any of the Taverns that Murphy was famous for frequenting and take a video of your team and any two strangers shouting "The curse is broken! GO Cubs!!" while the Tavern is clearly visible and identifiable in the background.   There are a handful of his famous Taverns located around the city so choose any of those locations and break the curse once and for all!

- 1 video, all team members visible if possible

- At least 2 strangers are visible and completing the challenge with your team

- The group is at any of the specified famous Taverns and shouts "The curse is broken, go Cubs!"
