Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

Checkpoint #1

This is the final Xplore Race of our 2016 season!  It's "Monumental Moments" like this that get us to reflect and be grateful. And there's no better place to reflect than along the Bayou here in Houston.  Especially now that a recent art installation was completed consisting of a series of 4-foot tall sculptures of words that encourage and inspire those that can find them.  The words LISTEN, PAUSE, EMERGE, OBSERVE, and REFLECT make up 5 of the 6 words spread throughout the area, but your challenge is to find the 6th word sculpture in this series.  Once you've found the 6th word sculpture take a picture of your team while each member is flashing an "X" using their forearms and the word is clearly visible in the background.

- 1 picture, team members visible

- Team is at the specified 6th word sculpture in the series and it is clearly visible and legible in the background

Checkpoint #2

This newly renovated park, located along a street whose name is a color, doesn't hide the fact that it's located in Midtown.  That's obvious given the fact that inside the park there are 10 foot tall letters spelling that out. Not far from those letters is a beautiful art installation meant to share people's thoughts and life experiences.  Find this large chalkboard inside the park and take a video of any member of your team answering the phrase along the top of the chalkboard while the rest of the team and the chalkboard are clearly visible in the background.

- 1 video, team members visible

- Team is at the specified art installation inside the specified park

- Any one team member answers the phrase at the top of the chalkboard while the rest of the team and the chalkboard are clearly visible in the background

Checkpoint #3

It's just about 2 months until Superbowl 51 is played here in Houston!  And how great it would be if the Texans could be playing in it! They might need a little luck to help them get there, and no we don't mean that quarterback from Indy!  To give them a boost going into the end of the season take a video of your team all singing the "It's Football Time In Houston" fight song with any stranger who's wearing Texans apparel such as a jersey, hat, shirt, etc. For the song, you can just sing the part that goes "Let's get ready to root for our team...all you Texans get up and scream! It's football time in Houston!" (play video below as a reference if needed)

- 1 video, team members visible

- a stranger is visible and they are wearing some form of Texans apparel

- group does a portion of the Texans fight song

Checkpoint #4

On the north side of town an incredible mural that spans the entire exterior of an old building depicts an animal that is also the mascot of the university the mural is located near.  Completed in the Spring of 2015, it was painted by someone named Mr. D, which is unusual because their name doesn't even have the letter "D" in it.  Once you've found this dramatic mural take a picture of your team all acting scared, running away, etc, while the animal in the mural is clearly visible in the background.

- 1 picture, team members visible

- Team is at the specified mural and it is visible in the background

Checkpoint #5

Even though Houston is not that old of a city compared to some of the historic places we Xplore, the downtown streets are filled with signs of our nation's past.  In fact those signs are street signs, and the history is in their names.  Find any intersection where two streets cross and one of the streets shares it's name with someone who signed the Declaration of Independence, and the other street shares it's name with a U.S. President.  These street names should be the same as the historic figure's LAST NAME, and the two streets need to come together at one intersection (as opposed to just finding two separate streets along the way but they never intersect).  Once you've found one of these unique intersections try to take a picture of your team while the two street signs are clearly visible and legible in the background of the same picture. Although HQ can zoom in on your picture to read both signs, if the conditions don't enable you to clearly get both signs in the same picture we may ask you to take a separate close-up picture of your team and each sign separately.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed, team members clearly visible

- Team is at any of the unique intersections described above and both street signs are visible and legible

Checkpoint #6

If these box-shaped kiosks had a Hex Color Code it would probably be #FF0300.  Originally funded by McDonald's these automated machines initially sold grocery store items such as milk and sandwiches before narrowing their focus to their current product.  With over 42,000 of these machines in circulation, there are sure to be a few strategically placed around this city.  Although, since the launch of that kiosk company, a number of similar style machines providing the same type of product but owned by other brands have begun to appear throughout most communities as well. Find any brand of these type of kiosks, that give you a product you use for about 2 hours and then give back, and take a picture of your team and that kiosk while members of your team are each pointing to the "product" they would prefer displayed on the machine.

- 1 picture, team members visible

- Any brand of the specified type of kiosk is visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #7

This recently built play park focuses on the national movement to get kids outdoors and engaged with nature. Located on about one and a half acres just south of where you might see someone do an "acid drop" (drugs not required), it's steep landscape makes a perfect backdrop for this challenge. Once there, get your team to the top of the 30 foot slide shown in the picture below.  Take a video of your entire team attempting to slide down the slide and run back up the wood stump staircase to the top of the hill within one 15-second continuous video.  Teamwork and the "leave no racer behind" mantra will likely determine whether you can all get down the slide and back up the hill within 15 seconds.

* Please note because of the wet conditions you are not required to make it all the way back up the hill within the time frame, just move at a pace that's comfortable and safe for everyone on your team. Also, if there are other park visitors please be respectful as you complete the challenge and don't cut in line or run anyone over as you attempt it.

- 1 continuous video, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified slide in the specified park

- Team attempts to slide down the slide and climb back up to the top of the hill via the wood stump staircase within one continuous 15-second video

Checkpoint #8

The reason most people end up at the downtown plaza shown below is because they are eventually called to come there, no matter how hard they try to avoid it.  One reason we like this place is because it's just east of a building with a prominent red "X" on it's roof.  Once there, take a video of your team members completing ONE of the two physical challenges outlined below using the concrete benches surrounding the plaza (and shown below).

1. Complete 5 sit-ups with your feet tucked under one of the concrete benches

2. Traverse on foot up and over 5 total concrete benches

*You can have some team members do one option and some team members do the other as long as each racer does one of the two. Given the wet conditions please traverse the benches carefully at a pace that is safe and comfortable for you.

- 1 video, or multiple videos if needed, team members visible

- Team is at the specified plaza and members complete ONE of the two physical challenges using the specified concrete benches

Checkpoint #9

KIND Challenge: Given the tough conditions of this race everyone could probably use a massage somewhere along the way. Unfortunately this challenge requires you to give a massage and not receive one, but sometimes being KIND feels just as good.  Anywhere along the way take a video of your team members giving a shoulder massage to any stranger while any business with the word "Massage" or "Spa" is included in the name of the business or in their signage and clearly visible and legible in the background. You only need to find one willing stranger to receive the massage, although if you find a group of people then each racer could massage a separate person. Or if it's just one stranger and you have multiple team members you could ask them if one racer could massage each hand, one racer rubbing the shoulders, etc.  It will likely be awkward, funny, but definitely KIND!

- 1 video, team members visible

- Team members are giving a shoulder massage or some variation of one to at least one stranger

- An actual business sign with the word "Massage" or "Spa" in it's name or somewhere on it's signage is visible and legible in the background

Checkpoint #10

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The establishment you need to get to, which is shown below, has an address located along Main Street, although if you ask the government where it is they will probably tell you it doesn't actually exist.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully, start heading towards this location and our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do once you get there.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like, you can relax with your team, some other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!

- All team members present at the Finish

- Team completes the requirement outlined by Race HQ
