Read each clue carefully. Complete each checkpoint accurately based on the description.

You must complete 9 out of the 10 checkpoints.  Checkpoint #10 is mandatory (cannot be your skip), and will need to be completed last, otherwise checkpoints can be completed in any order throughout the race.

Our HQ will review your submission almost instantly.  You should see your response very quickly but you do not need to wait around for it, especially if you are confident that you completed the checkpoint correctly.

Teams need to stay together throughout the race from one checkpoint to another and each team member (and their body markings when possible) should be visible in every submission unless otherwise noted.

If you have a race-related question during the race you can submit it through your Team Bonfyre.  We will respond quickly and provide you with the information you need as long as it doesn't impact your ability to solve the clue.

We have carefully scouted and vetted every checkpoint but cities are a constantly changing beast so if a checkpoint is inaccessible or you're not able to complete the requirements for any reason let us know right away and we will adjust the requirements if needed and verify accordingly.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Checkpoint #1

Philadelphia has landmarks galore! The most unusual might be this stuffed "Corvus corax", which was recently declared a "Literary Landmark".  Certainly no other creature of it's kind contributed more to literature than this chatty fellow who inspired a classic 1845 poem. Although the author of that poem did have a home here in Philly, this stuffed creature, which was his actual pet, is NOT found there. Once you figure out where he actually is, get there and take a picture of your team while this creature is clearly visible in the background

*Be aware that you may be asked to check any bags you have just before entering the area where this creature is found, and flash photography may be prohibited. Please be respectful while inside this building and mindful of those around you. Please don't run or make a lot of noise until you are back outside.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified location and the stuffed creature is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #2

When he arrived in Philadelphia's port he was a broke runaway.  When he died, 20,000 people attended his funeral and this city was forever changed by his impact.  For a man who was famous for advocating to save your pennies (among many other things) it's ironic that so many people pay tribute to him by throwing theirs at his final resting place.  Get to his grave site and take a video of any member of your team standing outside the iron gate and tossing a coin up and over the top of the fence and landing it on this man's grave without it rolling off.  The person filming the challenge can be inside the cemetery area next to the grave so you can clearly see the coin remain on the grave, but the racer attempting the challenge must be outside the gate and toss the coin up and over the spikes at the top of the fence (not just reaching your hand through it and dropping the coin). If the coin rolls off his grave, or comes to rest on his wife's grave, try again until you successfully complete the requirements and then only submit that video.

- 1 video, team members visible

- Team is at the specified grave

- A team member completes the coin toss challenge as outlined above and the coin clearly comes to rest on the specified grave

Checkpoint #3

With their undefeated start to the season and hysteria for new quarterback Carson Wentz, this city is going crazy for their football team.  Find any stranger (someone not racing in today's event) around the city wearing any Eagles apparel such as a jersey, shirt, hat, tattoo, and take a video of your entire team and the stranger all doing the "E-A-G-L-E-S....EAGLES!" cheer.

- 1 video, all team members clearly visible

- Any stranger (someone not racing in today's event) is with your group and they are visibly wearing some form of Eagles apparel

- Group does the "E-A-G-L-E-S.....EAGLES!" cheer

Checkpoint #4

This challenge tests your deductive reasoning skills as well as your ability to use a map. Narrow down the location of this sign based on the directions listed, and once you find it take a picture of your team with the sign clearly visible and legible in the background. If you need some help narrowing down where it is, you can find it across the street from a store whose green logo features a topless mermaid.

*Be aware that there are tons of these signs around the city, and even a back side to this one that has different locations listed. In order for HQ to verify this challenge you'll need to take a picture with this sign, that features these locations, in this order.

- 1 picture, or multiple pictures if needed to show the sign up close , all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified directional sign and it is clearly visible and legible in the background

Checkpoint #5

The location below was once the site of a mansion that was named for the unique material on it's roof.  It also happened to be the place where this state's favorite Quaker wrote and issued the framework for Pennsylvania's government, which then also became the model for the U.S. Constitution.  Once there, take a video of your entire team attempting to run the full length of the white grid on the ground within one continuous video, without stepping on any of the white lines (the max length video that can be uploaded to Bonfyre is 15 seconds so do your best to reach the opposite end of the grid within that timeframe, although not required).  If you can't find a stranger to film your team then the person on your team filming should be running behind the rest of your team a few steps so that they can record everyone else traversing the full length of the grid and confirm that the team is hurdling the white lines as they run.

- 1 video, team members visible

- Team is at the specified location and they attempt to run the full length of the grid on the ground within one continuous video

- Team members do not step on the white lines as they run

Checkpoint #6

Of course the cheesesteak is Philly's favorite food, but when you're in a race you want something quick and loaded with carbs. Although it's considered "soft", don't tell that to Tim Tebow, since many of these were shaped like him while he was an Eagle.  Find one of these "soft" Philly treats, cover it in mustard, and then take a picture of your team, or a combination of your team and as many strangers as needed in order to have 4 total people taking a bite out of it at the same time.  Each of the 4 individuals should be biting somewhere around the edge of the treat (so you may need to get cozy with one another), and your hands should not be touching or supporting it (it's being held up only with everyone's mouths/teeth).  You may want to take the picture from above the group so our HQ can verify everyone has their mouths on it and it's covered in mustard (because that's the best way to eat it, and get a little messy)!

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible if possible

- Team members and as many strangers as needed to have 4 total people completing the challenge

- The group of 4 individuals are all taking a bite of one of the specified "soft" treats and it is covered in mustard

- Group member's hands are not touching or supporting the treat

Checkpoint #7

Finding the nation's oldest continuously operated farmer's market is easy.  Once inside, finding the famous 3-foot tall mascot who collects money for charity might be a little tougher.  His name, although spelled differently, sounds exactly like the name of the street that is the southern border of this popular destination.  Once you're with him, take a picture of your entire team showing him some love by kissing or hugging him.  Feel free to give him a donation before heading to your next checkpoint if you'd like to support local food charities.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- Team is at the specified popular location and the specified mascot is clearly visible and identifiable

- Team is hugging or kissing specified mascot

Checkpoint #8

There are tons of active post offices around the country, but only one of them does not fly the American flag.  It's not that they're anti-American, but just that this colonial-themed facility is honoring the fact that there was not yet an "American" flag in 1775 when Ben Franklin was appointed Postmaster General.  It's also the only post office that does not have a zip code.  The name of the location was what Franklin would sign on the envelope as a protest against British rule, before there were stamps.  Once there, take a picture of your team while this facility is clearly visible and identifiable in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members visible

- Team is at the specified post office facility and it is clearly visible and identifiable in the background

Checkpoint #9

Find any PARKED vehicle whose license plate contains numerical digits that add up to 10, no more, no less. So if the plate were "CF2H 5K3" it would be acceptable because those numbers add up to 10 and there aren't any additional numbers. Once you've found a valid plate take a fun picture with your team members and the plate clearly visible and legible in the background.

- 1 picture, all team members clearly visible

- A license plate on a parked vehicle is clearly visible and legible in the background

- The sum of all the numerical digits on the plate add up to 10, no more, no less

Checkpoint #10

(MANDATORY, CANNOT BE YOUR SKIP)

(MUST BE COMPLETED LAST BY YOUR TEAM)

After you have completed 8 total checkpoints and had them verified by our Race HQ, then this checkpoint will be the final one you complete. The FINISH LINE for the entire race!

The logo of the establishment you need to get to, which is found along North 18th Street, is shown in the altered image below.

Once your team completes your 8th total checkpoint successfully start heading towards this location and our Race HQ will send you a quick and brief instruction on what your team needs to do once you get there.  Once you complete the objective or upload the required submission at this location you will be finished the race and you will instantly receive your finish place and time!  Then if you'd like, you can relax with your team, some other fun racers, and recover from your adventure at this after race venue!
